Job description

The Senior Construction Manager (Sr. CM) is responsible for overseeing and directing multiple telecommunications construction projects, including aerial, underground, and fiber optic installations. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and customer specifications. The Sr. CM provides leadership to Construction Managers, Supervisors, and field crews while maintaining strong relationships with clients, municipalities, and subcontractors.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee multiple telecom construction projects from pre-construction through closeout

  • Manage aerial, underground, fiber optic, coax, and directional drilling operations

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety policies

  • Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation

  • Review and approve project estimates, change orders, and cost reports

  • Coordinate with engineering, permitting, and utility partners

  • Maintain client relationships and serve as primary escalation point

  • Lead weekly production and safety meetings

  • Monitor quality control standards and ensure adherence to specifications

  • Oversee subcontractor performance and contract compliance

  • Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs

  • Mentor and develop Construction Managers and field leadership

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of telecom construction experience

  • 3+ years in a leadership or multi-project management role

  • Strong knowledge of fiber optic networks (FTTH, backbone, and distribution)

  • Experience with aerial and underground telecom construction

  • Working knowledge of permitting, right-of-way, and utility coordination

  • Ability to read and interpret construction prints and KMZ files

  • Strong budgeting and cost control experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project) and project management software

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required)

Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 30 Certification

  • PMP certification (preferred)

  • Experience working with major carriers

  • Experience managing large-scale fiber deployments
