Senior Facilities Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of a company's physical buildings and infrastructure. They manage teams, coordinate repairs, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and often handle budgets related to facility needs. Their role is critical to ensuring that workplaces are safe, efficient, and conducive to productivity. Senior Facilities Managers also play a key part in planning for future space requirements and implementing sustainability initiatives.

What are some common challenges faced by senior facilities managers, and how can they effectively address them?

Senior Facilities Managers often encounter challenges such as balancing a wide range of responsibilities—from maintenance oversight to budgeting and vendor management—while ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations. Adapting to rapidly changing technologies and compliance standards is also a frequent hurdle. Effective communication and proactive planning are key to addressing these issues: regularly scheduled inspections, clear documentation, and close collaboration with other departments help prevent problems before they escalate. Leveraging facility management software and staying current with industry best practices can further streamline processes and support long-term facility goals.

  • Configure, program, calibrate, and test controllers and sensors for integration into BAS networks
  • Design and program setpoints and control logic across temperature, humidity, pressure, scheduling, and equipment state
  • Investigate failures, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions and workarounds
  • Plan and specify system and equipment improvements as well as preventative maintenance programs
  • Lead special projects, support commissioning of new assets, and identify opportunities for new technology and system integrations
  • Ensure safety, maintainability, reliability, ergonomics, and regulatory compliance across all systems
  • Translate customer and stakeholder requirements into design options, documentation, estimates, and contract scopes
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Robotics Engineering
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience with PLC (programmable logic control) hardware
  • 5+ years of experience with equipment reliability or machine troubleshooting
  • 5+ years of experience supporting building lighting controls
  • 5+ years of experience supporting building environmental controls
  • 5+ years of experience modifying computer programs
