Job Summary:
Join our dynamic team as a Forklift Mechanic Apprentice and kick-start your career in heavy equipment maintenance and repair! This paid apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working with a wide range of industrial machinery, including forklifts, construction equipment, and farm machinery. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, you will develop essential mechanical skills, learn to troubleshoot complex systems, and gain valuable knowledge of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards. This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to build a solid foundation in heavy equipment mechanics while contributing to the safety and efficiency of our operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist senior technicians in diagnosing and repairing forklifts, cranes, excavators, and other heavy machinery using schematics and electrical diagnostics tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, and brake repairs on various equipment types.
  • Support fabrication and assembly activities for equipment repairs or modifications using power tools and welding techniques.
  • Learn to troubleshoot hydraulic systems, transmissions, air brake systems, suspension components, and electrical systems on construction and industrial equipment.
  • Conduct inspections to identify issues related to alignment, HVAC systems, diesel engine diagnostics, and overall mechanical health of machinery.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance logs, and diagnostic findings in compliance with OEM standards.
  • Participate in heavy lifting, tire service, and other manual tasks necessary for equipment servicing under supervision.
Requirements:
  • Strong interest in heavy equipment mechanics with a desire to learn technical skills in diesel engine repair, electrical diagnostics, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge or experience working with hand tools, power tools, or automotive repair is preferred.
  • Ability to follow schematics and technical manuals accurately.
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service when interacting with team members or clients.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with dealership service environments is a plus but not required.
