Job description

Accountant needed for our non profit client in Catonsville, MD. The Accountant will provide day-to-day accounting functions to include reconciling, reporting, budgeting and auditing. It is a contract to hire position working on Swift Staffing's payroll for the first three to six months. The non-negotiable pay rate is $39.00 per hour.
Essential Duties:

  • Review and process vendor invoices and employee expense reports; ensure proper authorization and coding.
  • Prepare and file Forms 1099 accurately and timely.
  • Manage customer invoicing, AR follow-up, and cash receipt application.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with monthly and annual close deadlines.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and comprehensive balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Support fixed asset management and lease accounting entries.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls across AP, AR, and GL functions
  • Prepare audit schedules and support financial statement audit requests.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to reduce manual workflows.

Qualifications:

  • At least four years of accounting experience with a non-profit environment is required.
  • Must have a stable long term work history with the same employer.
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Must have experience with grants, funding, month-end closing, journal entries, auditing and bank reconciliations.
  • Experience with Quickbooks, Sage, Microsoft Word and Excel are required.
  • Must be able to work from 9:00 am-5:00 pm Monday through Friday with a 30 minute non paid lunch.
  • Must be able to pass an FBI background check and drug test.
