About the job

Join SR400 Constructors on the $4.6B SR 400 Express Lanes project in Atlanta, one of the largest roadway projects in the United States. This a major infrastructure undertaking managed by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) to add 16 miles of new tolled express lanes along State Route 400. This project will transform a critical route and support mobility in one of the nation’s fastest growing regions.

Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators and other heavy machinery to perform excavation tasks.
  •  Read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
  •  Ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  •  Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery.
  •  Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
  •  Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  •  Assist in the planning and execution of construction projects.
  •  Load and unload materials as needed.
  •  Monitor and control the depth and grade of excavations.
  •  Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with equipment.
  •  Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  •  Coordinate with other operators and workers on site.
  •  Follow project timelines and meet deadlines.
  •  Ensure the work area is clean and safe.
  •  Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions.
  •  Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
  •  Assist with other construction tasks as needed.
  •  Operate machinery in various weather conditions.
  •  Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  •  Provide input on improving operational efficiency.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  •  Minimum of 3 years of experience operating excavators.
  •  Strong understanding of construction processes.
  •  Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
  •  Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  •  Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations.
  • Ability to operate other heavy machinery is a plus.
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver's license.
