Job Summary
The Department of Nutrition Science is seeking a Senior Administrative Assistant/Event Coordinator & Schedule Deputy to join our team. This position will provide high-level administrative support to the department. This role serves as the receptionist and supports faculty and departmental committees.
Who Are We? The Department of Nutrition Science has been a leader in educating students, conducting cutting-edge research and influencing policies to improve human health.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Handle keys for the department, update photo board, and support social media/monitor technology.
  • Plan events for the department such as the Kirksey Lecture/Luncheon, Bowers Lecture/Reception, and Hall of Fame.
  • Serve as the Schedule Deputy for the department which includes scheduling classes and resolving issues.
  • Manage textbook lists, course evaluations, and course syllabi.
  • Independently perform non-routine administrative functions exercising discretion, such as coordinating events, conduct searches for information, prepare reports or handle special projects.
  • Draft and edit correspondence, promotional materials or presentations.
  • May monitor operating budget and maintain financial records.
  • Handle non-routine inquiries and issues from internal and external sources.

Required:
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Three years of experience in an administrative support role.

Skills Needed:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes.
  • Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions.
  • Drafting, proofreading and editing skills.

  • College degree.
  • Five (or more) years of experience.
