Burnham Holdings Sourcing Company (BHSC) supports all supply chain and sourcing activities across the Burnham Holdings, Inc. portfolio.

We are looking for a Planner/Buyer to join our team! This position will plan for assigned parts and manage the purchasing process to include supplier relationship management, pricing, terms, and inventory optimization. The position will also work closely with suppliers, operations, engineering, quality, and financial teams. The ideal candidate will have: purchasing experience, manufacturing experience, able to work in a fast-paced environment, able to multi-task, great communication skills, willing and able to learn.

This is a full-time in office position located in Peru, Indiana. Hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plan for supply and issue purchase orders on all assigned inventory parts
  • Issue Purchase orders for indirect parts and services
  • Prepare and execute Requests for Quote
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous pricing and terms
  • Conduct and participate in supplier relationship activities
  • Build and maintain long term relationships with suppliers
  • Work with all relevant parties to source and select suppliers
  • Manage purchase price increases from existing suppliers
  • Attain purchasing savings on parts and services
  • Optimize Inventory Levels on assigned parts
  • Monitor supplier fulfilment of PO requirements
  • Review Engineering Notices and take appropriate action
  • Facilitate corrective action for non-conforming material with QC, Engineering, and Supplier as needed.
  • Help resolve PO/Receiver/Invoice problems
  • Take lead in correcting inaccurate stock records and corrective action to eliminate inaccuracies
  • Participate at management level in annual inventory
  • Participate on new product development and continuous improvement teams
  • Transport parts to and from the production floor to vendors (machine shops/ errand runs)
  • Manage a cycle counting system

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred; or
  • Associates Degree in Business or 3-5 years related experience and/or training
  • Highly desirable but not required:
    • APICS or other Supply Chain Certifications
    • Degree in Supply Chain Management
