Job description

Description:

FEV is seeking an experienced and highly skilled engineer in the field of hybrid/electric vehicle control systems, high-voltage system integration, and embedded controls for electrified powertrain applications. The role will support customer-facing development and integration work, including HV hardware interfaces, controls software/firmware, vehicle bring-up, troubleshooting, and validation readiness for advanced vehicle programs.

  • Develop and mature controls software and advanced controls strategies for electrified propulsion and high-voltage vehicle systems, including application-specific optimization and integration support\
  • Develop, review, and troubleshoot embedded controls software, including bare-metal C code and real-time control logic for vehicle and powertrain systems
  • Define system and functional-level requirements, including component interfaces, I/O, communication protocols, and high/low-voltage interactions
  • Support vehicle integration, prototype start-up, problem resolution, and customer-site engineering activities for HV systems and electrified powertrains
  • Review controls architecture, firmware implementation, validation coverage, and system maturity to identify technical risks and gaps
  • Develop and support plant models, simulations, and control strategy validation activities for electric vehicle powertrain components and systems
  • Conduct MiL, SiL, HiL, bench, dyno, and vehicle testing to validate control functions and support DVP&R execution
  • Use Vector tools and other calibration/diagnostic toolchains to analyze CAN traffic, troubleshoot issues, and support integration activities
  • Interface with electrical hardware, software, diagnostics, functional safety, validation, prototype build, and customer engineering teams
  • Drive the use of proper automotive and defense-oriented engineering standards, safe HV work practices, documentation discipline, and structured issue tracking
  • Lead or support project execution, status reporting, technical reviews, and direct communication with customers
  • Keep abreast of technology advancements around electronic controls, EV architectures, HV hardware, and vehicle integration methods
Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship or Green Card is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field required
  • 3+ years of experience in hybrid/electric vehicle controls, embedded controls software development, or vehicle/powertrain integration
  • Strong understanding of hybrid and electric vehicle powertrain system architecture and high-voltage system interfaces
  • Experience developing, debugging, or integrating embedded C software, including real-time and/or bare-metal control code
  • Good knowledge of electronic control system architecture, CAN communication protocols, and vehicle network diagnostics
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow or equivalent controls development tools
  • Experience with Vector CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape, or equivalent vehicle network and calibration tools
  • Ability to understand electrical architecture, schematics, wiring diagrams, interface control documents, and component-level requirements
  • Knowledge of sensors, actuators, HV hardware interfaces, and common electrified powertrain components
  • Ability to work effectively in a customer-facing environment and support on-site integration or troubleshooting activities as required
  • Must be eligible to support ITAR-controlled or customer-restricted defense programs, as applicable
  • Must be a self-driven team player able to perform in a fast-paced development and consulting environment
  • Excellent communicator, resourceful, organized, and mindful of time management
  • Self-starter, working well with little oversight, independently and/or as part of a team
