Department Detail – The Communications Department at BGEA consists of the following areas: project management, ecommerce, email marketing, advertising, public relations/social media/promotion, creative services (graphic design, content writing/proofing and production), and Decision magazine, our official monthly publication. The department tells the story of what God is doing through the BGEA by creating print and online content that support the organization’s mission of proclaiming the Gospel, negotiating paid and leveraging unpaid promotional placements, and engaging new and existing supporters with targeted content using a combination of indirect and direct communications channels.

Job Summary – The Senior Email Marketing Manager will manage the process of email marketing and texting for BGEA and its various ministries and departments. This position requires attention to detail and a high degree of accountability. The Senior Email Marketing Manager will manage multiple people and multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy using ever-changing technologies.

Ministry Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage BGEA’s email marketing division, creating strategy and helping cast vision.
• Collaborates with Senior Web Products Manager to develop texting campaigns that engage donors and acquire new names and recommend to BGEA Communications leadership
• Oversee implementation of texting campaigns
• Creates goals and strategies that align email marking and texting strategies with BGEA goals
• Manages the relationship with the email and texting platform vendors
• Provides ownership and oversight of the BGEA app and recommends changes and updates as necessary
• Suggests, tracks, and implements email fundraising initiatives at the direction of leadership
• Formulates and Manages the Email Marketing budget
• Build, test, proof and send all BGEA email communications
• Develop, unify and coordinate all BGEA email marketing campaigns and makes recommendations for optimization
• Proof copy for accuracy and messaging
• Manages all email marketing projects for BGEA and various ministries utilizing BGEA Project Management Software
• Manages BGEA Email Marketing and Texting Calendar
• Assess and maintain health of emails and texts based on deliverability and performance.
• Ensure all emails and texts adhere to BGEA brand policy and best practices.
• Analyze open rates, click rates, bounce rates and donation activities relative to specific email campaigns and make recommendations related thereto
• Work with email and texting vendors to leverage platform for best practices and optimal utilization
• Manage email and text lists maintenance and subscriber preferences
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various BGEA ministry departments
• Oversee testing for email rendering on all platforms and devices
• Promote and implement email testing to improve engagement and increase fundraising.
• Provide recommendations of email approaches to all ministry teams, including automation, list segmentation, personalization and dynamic content.
• Manages large amounts of proprietary data to ensure safety and security of donor contact lists.
• Manages BGEA’s reputation score to ensure the organization’s ability to maintain email communication across hundreds of ISPs and email providers.
• Develops and implements schedule of reporting email performance to leadership.

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with ministries and various departments to establish analogous benchmarks and measurements for digital communications streams
• Backup to email designer, importing creative services projects into HTML
• Train ministry teams to use email marketing platform, Acoustic, and send emails.
• Other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

Skills and Knowledge

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
• Minimum of 3 years experience in marketing, communications or related field
• Must be committed to excellence and the BGEA mission statement
• Experience in digital communication streams using Acoustic or similar platform
• Intermediate knowledge of HTML
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, experience using MS Access and Excel preferred
• Intermediate Photoshop image editing ability
• Experience working with database maintenance and architecture preferred
• Good comprehension and listening skills, with ability to resolve business challenges
• Strong initiative with ability to work independently relative to assigned priorities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work effectively with people at all organizational levels, and with external contacts
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Experience with texting as a communications tool is helpful
