Seeking a senior Electrical Engineer to join our Airport Products Team in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin!
The Electrical Engineer III will lead multiple engineering projects with high accountability to commitments while maintaining strong attention to safety, design quality, cost, and schedule. Collaborate with the product development team to ensure compliance with existing engineering processes, and develop new processes as needed.
Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Lead and collaborate with the product development team to develop new products per Wausau Equipment's product roadmap utilizing the latest materials, processes, and technology.
  • Develop (and gather) detailed and complete specifications for new products.
  • Collaborate with marketing to lead and participate in VOC meetings.
  • Determine product requirements by analyzing VOC research, specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform product testing to ensure that products meet specifications and design intents.
  • Champion and ensure compliance with Wausau engineering processes and ISO requirements.
  • Work with operations and suppliers to reduce cost and improve quality and scheduling.
  • Team up with service to resolve prioritized product issues in a timely manner.
  • Travel to customer's work sites when necessary to perform on site diagnostics.
  • Support marketing efforts by attending tradeshows, conferences, product introductions and training.
  • Embrace the engineering product development vision, strategy, and plan.
  • Support the engineering sustaining team vision to drastically reduce product issues, warranty liabilities, and rework.
  • Produce innovative designs with a high degree of cost-efficient manufacturability.
  • Adopt a continuous improvement attitude in regards to processes to attain and sustain a center of design excellence.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%; mainly domestic and during product introduction phase.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
  • Knowledge of Harness design, Electrical Schematics Design, and DC Circuit and Troubleshooting. 12 and 24 VDC circuit analysis (low/medium voltage AC system power distribution, circuit, and controls understanding).
  • Proficiency with PLC Programming (CodeSYS, IQAN).
  • Strong computer skills including Excel and Word required.
  • Experience using CAD (Solidworks, Solidworks Electrical, and AutoCAD).
  • Background in engine diagnostics as well as general knowledge in drivetrain, driveline, and diesel engines.
  • Solid technical skills in electrical engineering.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic controls.
  • High degree of accountability to project commitments and the business objectives.
  • Ability to communicate both written and orally with all levels of employees and outside representatives. Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to explain technical topics to all levels of audience
  • Must be able to deliver on commitment in a timely manner and to acceptable quality standard.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field required.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years engineering experience in a manufacturing setting of heavy equipment, engine powertrain, and engine driveline components with a proven track record for executing successful engineering projects.
  • Experience working with mobile equipment, specifically, snow removal, construction or agricultural equipment industries a preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment. Testing equipment includes multi-meter, oscilloscope, power supplies, etc.
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE, including but not limited to: Safety shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection.
  • Work mainly conducted in office environment. Occasionally exposed to a combination of dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise in shop environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit at the computer for long periods of time. Specific abilities required by this job include typing on a keyboard and viewing a computer monitor.
  • The employee is frequently required to attend meetings. Specific abilities required by this job include comprehending voices and/or sounds and seeing visual instruments.
