Senior Electrical Estimator
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Up to $120,000 per year, depending on experience

Our client is an established commercial construction and MEP contractor delivering complex electrical and mechanical projects throughout Arizona and surrounding markets. The company supports commercial, industrial, healthcare, manufacturing, semiconductor, mission critical, and institutional construction projects.

The organization is known for its focus on quality, accuracy, collaboration, and delivering cost-effective construction solutions.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join the team in Phoenix, Arizona.

This position is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates for commercial electrical construction projects while supporting pre construction, project pursuit, and backlog growth.

The Senior Electrical Estimator will work closely with estimating leadership, Project Management, Purchasing, and Operations throughout the bidding process and project turnover.

The ideal candidate has extensive commercial electrical estimating experience, can independently lead complex bids, and is comfortable mentoring junior estimators.

This is a fully in-office position in Phoenix, AZ. Remote and hybrid schedules are not available.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate estimating workload, bid schedules, and project priorities with estimating leadership
  • Participate in estimating meetings and review upcoming bid opportunities
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, addenda, schedules, and bid documents
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical systems including:
    • Power distribution
    • Lighting
    • Fire alarm
    • Low-voltage systems
    • Controls
    • Generators
    • Site electrical
    • Specialty electrical systems
  • Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
  • Solicit, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations
  • Review specifications for approved manufacturers, scope requirements, and potential conflicts
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, job walks, and site investigations as required
  • Analyze project schedules for manpower requirements, sequencing, overtime, phasing, and other cost impacts
  • Develop proposal letters, scope clarifications, exclusions, qualifications, and value engineering recommendations
  • Prepare conceptual budgets and detailed project estimates
  • Develop turnover packages for awarded projects
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Purchasing, and Operations during project handoff
  • Assist with change-order pricing, negotiated projects, and design revisions
  • Review contracts to confirm alignment with estimate assumptions and project scope
  • Maintain estimating databases, labor units, historical cost information, and current material pricing
  • Maintain bid logs, post-bid analysis, and estimating performance metrics
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and systems
  • Mentor and train junior electrical estimators
  • Support company backlog and revenue growth through accurate, competitive, and timely estimates


Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of recent commercial electrical estimating experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in a Senior Electrical Estimator capacity
  • Qualifying experience must be within the United States
  • Arizona electrical construction experience is strongly preferred
  • Extensive experience estimating commercial electrical construction projects
  • Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, labor productivity, material pricing, and bid preparation
  • Insurable driving record with no DUI/DWI convictions within the past three years
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card

Candidates who do not meet the minimum experience requirements may not be considered.
