Job Summary

The Senior Training Manager is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of comprehensive training programs across the organization. Reporting directly to the Director of Training, this role manages two key functional areas through supervisory personnel: Learning Content & Design and Training Facilitation. The Senior Training Manager - Learning & Development plays a critical role in executing the organization's vision to be the industry-leading learning organization that develops exceptional people who deliver exceptional safety, service, and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Training Leadership Aligned with AmeriGas Pillars
    Lead the development and execution of comprehensive training strategies that directly support AmeriGas's five strategic pillars: Safety is the Foundation, Customer Centric Experience, Operational Excellence, Engaged Workforce, and Financial Resilience. Partner with Sr. Training Manager - Field Operations, senior leadership, and business unit managers to identify training needs, translate business objectives into effective learning solutions, and establish key performance indicators that measure training effectiveness across safety impact, customer satisfaction, operational performance, employee engagement, and business outcomes.
  • Team Leadership & Talent Development
    Provide leadership, coaching, and development to supervisors overseeing Learning Content & Design and Training Facilitation teams, building a high-performing training organization through effective talent management and professional development. Foster collaboration between content development and training delivery teams while setting clear performance expectations, conducting regular performance reviews, and developing team capabilities in instructional design, adult learning principles, learning technologies, and training facilitation methodologies.
  • Training Program Management & Quality Assurance
    Oversee the complete training development lifecycle from needs analysis through design, development, delivery, and evaluation, ensuring all programs meet quality standards and incorporate adult learning principles, hands-on practice, and practical application. Manage the eLearning development process to ensure timely delivery of high-quality digital learning content, monitor training program effectiveness using Kirkpatrick's evaluation model, and maintain training program documentation, version control, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Safety Foundation & Learning Technology Innovation
    Establish an uncompromising safety foundation by developing training programs that instill a zero-harm mindset in every team member while ensuring compliance with industry regulatory requirements. Oversee Learning Management System administration, content management, and reporting capabilities while driving innovation in training delivery methods including AI adoption, eLearning, microlearning, simulations, and blended learning approaches that enhance both safety culture and operational capability.
  • Budget Management & Stakeholder Partnership
    Develop and manage the training department budget including personnel, technology, materials, and vendor costs, while optimizing resource allocation to maximize training ROI and conducting cost-benefit analysis to demonstrate the value of training investments. Build strong partnerships with business leaders, subject matter experts, and operational teams to ensure training meets real needs, serve as the primary point of contact for training requests, and communicate training strategies, progress updates, and results to executive leadership and stakeholders.

  • Professional certifications such as:
    • CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance)
    • CPTD (Certified Professional in Talent Development)
    • CPTM (Certified Professional Training Manager)
    • Experience with Learning Management Systems and eLearning development tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate)
      Demonstrated success developing and implementing comprehensive training strategies in complex organizations
