POSITION SUMMARY

Our Driver will ensure the safe transportation of our residents to and from various destinations, such as appointments or activity group outings, assisting them with safe onboarding and offboarding as necessary. The ideal candidate is friendly, patient, and committed to providing excellent service to seniors while ensuring a high level of safety and professionalism. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide safe, reliable, courteous, and efficient transportation service for the residents to and from various human service locations, work sites, educational institutions, medical facilities, grocery stores, drug stores, and others.
  • Assist residents in and out of the vehicle, utilizing the wheelchair lift/stairs as needed; open and close doors; and load/unload walkers and wheelchairs as needed.
  • Ensure resident safety and satisfaction are priorities, and account for the presence of all residents when leaving or returning to the community.
  • Prepare the van/bus for operation and coordinate necessary vehicle maintenance.
  • May be responsible for ensuring all vehicle license plates, inspection tags, and insurance cards are current and displayed properly per local and state policy.
  • Follow and understand the rules of the road and transportation safety procedures.
  • Maintain current driving license per state regulations to perform transportation services.
  • Assist in the resident programs as needed, including resident activities and special events.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, engaging in friendly conversation and providing support as needed during trips.


Requirements

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Education and licenses:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid state driver's license (a CDL license may be required per state or local regulations).
  • Passenger endorsement (if required by state regulations).

Experience, Competencies, and Skills:

  • At least three (3) years of driving record and a clean driving history.
  • At least one (1) year of previous experience driving a passenger vehicle, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting.
  • Experience in operating large vehicles or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a professional, friendly, and patient demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, patience and commitment to treating our residents with the utmost respect.
