About the Opportunity

The Maintenance Assistant provides ongoing preventative maintenance and resident assistance, building and grounds maintenance, troubleshooting maintenance problems and various related tasks as assigned. Performs most tasks independently with occasional assistance of outside vendor. Is available to respond to maintenance emergencies that may arise outside of regular working hours.

  • Practices good safety awareness and follows safety procedures, including infection control measures where applicable.
  • Ability to be self-supervising and self-motivating. Able to set priorities and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must demonstrate a positive, courteous and respectful attitude to residents, families, staff and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior experience in building maintenance.
  • Must possess knowledge of the following:

    Plumbing, including but not limited to design/mechanics of commodes, plumbing fixtures, drains, discharge lines, hot water heaters, dishwashers, ice machines, etc.

    HVAC, including but not limited to general principles of HVAC and heat pump operation/mechanics, and refrigeration.

    Electricity, including but not limited to wiring, voltage, amperage.

    Mechanics, including but not limited to design/operation of engines.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license; must have clean driving record with no major violations.
