Job description

Quality Control Specialist (VPC)

The VPC QC Specialist will directly manage the quality inspectors across the organization in several departments. This position will be flexible in all areas to support VPC quality standards as directed by the QC Manager and Sr. Managers.

Department: Vehicle Processing Center

Reports to: Quality Control Manager

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1st Shift (Expected from 6:00AM-4:00PM or 8:00AM-5:00PM) (Rotating weekends and overtime may be required) (Schedule is subject to change based on production requirements)

Location: Onsite, Ellabell, GA 31308 (Must have the ability to commute within the neighboring facilities for meetings, events, etc.)


Responsibilities for a Quality Control Specialist:

  • Manage the daily activities of the QC inspectors to ensure all activities are being performed correctly and safely.
  • Manage performances, attendance, TM communications, and other company related information and events that are required.
  • Perform audits to ensure inspectors and VPC departments are performing within standard.
  • Communicate quality concerns or findings to management in a timely manner.
  • Monitor absences and manage headcount to support responsibilities, while communicating to management recommendations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality measurement tools/metrics and report performance.
  • Provide the communications necessary to motivate and manage quality team members.
  • Be aware and ensure that all TM's are performing in such a manner to meet all customer and Glovis policy's and requirements.
  • Conduct daily QC start up meetings with team members.
  • Support all departments in their training activities by assisting and ensuring training is complete. May be required to drive to support VPC operations.
  • Participate in cross functional teams, communicate improvement ideas, and ensure efficiency in each area managed.
  • Support corrective actions and changes needed to improve our processes, participate in developing countermeasures as needed.
  • Support all company policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications for a Quality Control Specialist:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required
  • Visual acuity allowing the candidate to recognize paint defects, paint runs, buff marks, thin paint, and distinguish matching colors between body panels, fascia, fuel lids and other areas of vehicles
  • Minimum of one year of experience of distribution or warehouse experience, preferably in automotive environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality control
  • Must be able to perform basic to moderately difficult mathematical functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, averaging, and percentages.
  • Previous experience using scanners and WMS would be preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and recognize when and how to effectively collaborate with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly focused with excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

The estimated base salary rate for the Quality Control Specialist is $59,000-$62,000 an hour. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that GLOVIS EA reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
