SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $180,000 - $230,000 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate's qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.
SUMMARY
Redwire Defense Tech is seeking a dynamic and visionary Senior Director of Business Development and Strategy to lead our growth initiatives and strategic planning for US Army organizations in the focus of unmanned systems. This role is critical in driving the organization's continued growth with existing markets and identifying new markets, forging strategic partnerships, and spearheading business development activities. This candidate must have significant, proven experience of success in winning new business both in the domestic and international uncrewed systems and/or robotics markets
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.
  • Support the refinement, development, and implementation of the company's long-term strategic vision and growth plan with specific focus on the US Army customer and allies in the "Americas"
  • Conduct market analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and competitive threats.
  • Consistently collaborate with the growth team to align business strategies with overall company goals.
  • Lead identification and qualification of new business opportunities that support the account plan, Sector growth goals, and submit targets, throughout the opportunity life cycle.
  • Identify and pursue domestic and select international business opportunities to drive revenue growth
  • Build positive relationships with clients, partners and industry leaders
  • Lead early development of win strategy during the Assessment Phase, prior to assignment of a Capture Manager
  • Lead negotiations and close high-impact deals with strategic partners and clients
  • Drive domestic and key international market expansion initiatives to deliver to customers in Canada, Central & South America region
  • Consistently monitor regulatory changes within the uncrewed systems industry and identify plans for adapting
  • Work and mentor the domestic business development team, fostering the culture of innovation and collaboration
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives
  • Provide regular updates and metrics to the executive team and board of directors on progress and milestones
  • Assumes all other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in business development, strategic planning, or a related role, preferably in the uncrewed systems, robotics, or technology industry
  • Deep understanding and demonstrated experience supporting the US Army and key international customer in Canada, Central & South America
  • Experience developing Account Strategies or Strategies for Capability Development and Acquisition
  • Experience with forecasting capabilities and tools, including, preferably CRM tools (e.g. SalesForce), SharePoint, and all Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and expanding market presence.
  • Strong experience in a leadership role driving strategic planning and execution within the UAS and UAV aerospace manufacturing industry.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth understanding of the UAV industry and its regulatory environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data and insights to drive strategic decision-making

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
