Job Description:


The Director / Senior Director, Compensation leads the design, execution, and management of Montefiore Medical Center's compensation programs. This role is structured with flexibility in level and may be filled at either the Director or Senior Director level, depending on the candidate's depth of experience and scope of prior responsibility. The position focuses on designing and delivering high-impact, scalable compensation solutions by leading a team of compensation partners and collaborating with HR Business Partners, HR Technology teams and hospital leaders.

We will count on you to:
  • Lead the design, implementation, and execution of innovative and competitive compensation strategies including incentive plans, and market analysis.

  • Partner closely with senior leadership, HR business partners and other primary stakeholders to align compensation programs with business goals and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead the annual compensation cycle by utilizing data and analytics to provide insights and recommendations to leadership.

  • Align compensation philosophy with business needs and regulatory restrictions, developing creative solutions for talent acquisition and retention. Recommend solutions or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related challenges.

  • Monitor and analyze market trends and competitor practices to recommend adjustments as needed.

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of global remuneration practices via external forums, consultant interaction and peer networks.

  • Provide guidance and thought leadership to HR and leaders across the organization on compensation matters including job offers, market competitiveness, and pay for performance.

  • Develop and deliver compensation communications and training for managers and employees.

  • Carry out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues.

  • Act as a client advisor and consultant by providing best in class rewards advisory and counsel to Senior Leadership


Qualifications and Experience:
  • Business Administration or related area and/or commensurate experience is required.
  • Certification as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), or similar, is a plus and a master's degree in human resources management is preferred.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, including cost analysis and budget forecasting is essential.
  • A strategic thinker with strong communication and program solving skills is critical.
  • Prior team leadership experience with a proven ability to lead, coach and motivate a high performing Compensation team is necessary.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, and other data analytics. Experience with Workday, UKG and cutting-edge compensation management and benchmarking software is highly preferred.
Work Environment and Schedule
  • Full-time role based primarily at Montefiore's Tarrytown office with occasional visits to the Bronx campus.
  • Required to work from the office at least three days per week.
