Job Description

BryceTech has an immediate opening for a Technical Writer - Senior to support the  Under Secretary of Defense/Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (USD/DUSD(R&E)) Front Office; (2) the Offices of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (OASD) for Science and Technology (S&T), Mission Capabilities (MC), and Critical Technologies (CT); and (3) Deputy Secretary of Defense (DSD).  The Technical Writer - Senior will tailor messages to serve the needs of different audiences, including employees, clients, media, social media, students, industry participants, and community organizations. Additionally, messaging should be in coordination with strategic communications plans for OUSD(R&E).

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for completing tasks while showing office knowledge, problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to create clear, professional materials
  • Responsible researching and writing customer-specific speeches, presentations, and communications that address major technical issues and trends while remaining engaging for targeted audiences.
  • Responsible researching, writing, and developing new presentations, speeches, and communication products addressing complex and high-profile issues.
  • Responsible for meeting regularly with the customer to advise and consult on messaging and communications strategies.
  • Responsible for producing in-depth communications across multiple formats and channels, including speeches, presentations, blogs, videos, articles, op-eds, bylined pieces, letters, and social media.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required in related field such English, Journalism, and/or Communications.  
  • 7 years of demonstrated relevant experience is required 
  • Four (4) years of specialized experience
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with excellent oral and written communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree is preferred in related field such as Communications, Journalism and/or Media.  
  • Demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, or journalism at the DoD or service component headquarters level, with proficiency in social media strategy, rapid content and presentation development, and multi-platform communication for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical topics into clear, compelling plain language while independently managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and applying strong organizational skills; experience supporting technical organizations is highly desired.
