Position - ETL DEVELOPER

Responsible for application maintenance and support, identifying and implementing preventive measures proactively, evaluates and makes recommendation on techniques, practices, or technologies that would enhance business needs. Also does work to ensure continuous process improvements. The individual needs to have a good understanding of application topography and the ability to collaborate between all parties involved to maintain a stable application environment.
The PFS-IS(Personal Financial Services - Investment Solutions) platform is a showcase product for Northern Trust's Wealth Management business and we must demonstrate our ability to deliver and support innovative technology solutions. We count on our site reliability engineers to run the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health.
Major Duties:
1. Ensure near-zero downtime with monitoring and alerting, self-healing automation, and continuous improvement
2. Leads troubleshooting, analysis, and solution of unexpected systems behaviors that impact the quality of service
3. Provide a proactive approach to our clients' workloads, anticipating failures, automating tasks, ensuring availability, and providing a great customer experience
4. Communicate issue/resolution status (written and verbal) to project team and management
5. Work with senior staff and management on service delivery improvements
6. Partner with the development team, business support and end users to support and implement end to end solutions.
7. Use the IBM DataStage and PL/SQL to create or modify scripts and programs.
8. Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution by not being afraid of challenging the status quo.
9. Support existing software systems and platforms and hook in applications to applicable data sources
10. Create and maintain Disaster Recovery plans and participate in DR Testing and Infra patching.
Knowledge/Skills:
• Extensive knowledge of IBM Infosphere DataStage - ETL is required
• Extensive knowledge on building and supporting ETL Code using Infosphere DataStage to load enterprise data warehouses using relational database (Oracle, DB2, Sybase) applying transformations and business rules as defined in requirements is a MUST.
• Extensive Knowledge of oracle SQL and PL/SQL (cursors, triggers, packages, stored procedures)
• Knowledge in integrating data from multiple sources- MQ, Solace, XML, Excel files, unstructured data and loading them into staging/warehouse tables
• Understanding of dimensional data modeling - star schema and snowflake schema
• Extensive experience in creating jobs, routines and sequences to create end to end ETL framework in DataStage
• Experienced in maintaining DataStage code version using Github/Microsoft Azure Knowledge of code migration and production deployment using automated migration process
• Experienced in performance tuning DataStage ETL processes using appropriate data partitioning algorithms
• Must have extensive Knowledge of Unix/Linux Commands and shell scripting
• Knowledge on scheduling tools like Control-M.
• Knowledge on Azure DevOps and Agile methodology.
• Nice to have some knowledge on Service now and ITSM concepts. Understanding of enterprise architecture patterns and best practices
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required

• A positive goal orientated attitude with a focus on service delivery
Experience Required:
A College or University degree in Computer Science and/or relevant 6-8 years proven work experience. Related Industry qualification is preferred.
