Job description

We are seeking a Sr. Data Engineer (100% ONSITE). This is a full time and direct hire role for one of our amazing partners west of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This role does NOT offer sponsorship, it's NOT a consulting role, it's NOT remote, and we do NOT work with 3rd parties.


Overview:

This Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines and data warehouse solutions. You should have deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, ETL development, and data integration. You will be doing hands-on work with SQL development, performance tuning, and integration frameworks. You will also collaborate across business and technical teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Using SQL Server Development to design, develop, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
  • You will optimize query performance and troubleshoot bottlenecks and implement indexing strategies and database tuning techniques.
  • Doing data integration & ETL to build and maintain ETL pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory and other tools.
  • You will integrate data from multiple sources (APIs, flat files, relational systems), and ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across systems.
  • Design and maintain data warehouse schemas like Star and Snowflake), implement dimensional modeling (facts, dimensions), and support reporting and analytics requirements.
  • It's preferred if you can work with cloud and modern data platforms. That includes working with Azure Data Services (ADF, Synapse, Azure SQL, Data Lake) and migrating on-prem data solutions to cloud environments.
  • You will monitor and optimize ETL jobs and SQL Server performance by conducting root cause analysis for performance issues and implementing best practices for scalability and reliability.
  • Make sure the top problem queries/procs are tuned with measurable performance gains and stable production behavior.
  • Create new database features to be delivered with minimal rework, clean documentation, and consistent SQL standards.
  • Make sure that any production issues are diagnosed quickly with clear root cause and preventative fixes to reduce repeat incidents.
  • Make sure that Power BI datasets refresh reliably and faster due to improved SQL design and aligned metric definitions.


Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of experience in SQL Server development.
  • Strong experience with T-SQL, stored procedures and query optimization.
  • Experience with data warehousing and dimensional modeling.
  • Strong experience with ETL tools like SSIS, and Azure Data Factory.
  • Strong understanding of data integration patterns and best practices.
  • Experience working in healthcare, finance, or enterprise consulting environments is a plus.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud (ADF, Synapse, Azure SQL) is a plus.
  • Experience with Power BI or reporting tools is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data solutions is a plus.
  • Experience working with large-scale data platforms is a plus.
  • Experience with Python or Spark is a plus
  • Ability to work onsite with cross-functional teams and to clearly communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
