StraCon Services Group, LLC is seeking a Software Developer, Journeyman, to join our team at NAWCTSD in Orlando, FL. NAWCTSD is the Navy's principal center for modeling, simulation, and training systems technologies. The selected candidate will support RD2F in training system development and research efforts involving virtual environments, game engines, VR, and AR.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs.
  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Update software or enhance existing software capabilities.
  • Build applications involving networking, databases, and game engine plug-ins to support virtual environment and simulation development.
  • May work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems, develop specifications, and performance requirements.
  • Maintain databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.

Special Requirements:
  • The RD2F team is heavily focused on virtual environment development using game engines (Unity), virtual reality, and augmented reality.
  • Work will involve building applications for networking, databases, and game engine plug-ins.

Required Experience:
  • 3 or more years of experience.
  • Experience with game engines and virtual environments, including Unity.
  • Proficiency in C#.
  • Networking experience (TCP, UDP).
  • SQL experience.
  • Experience with Visual Studio and client/server applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with distributed systems architecture and real-time performance/optimization.

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with C++.
  • Experience with XAML.
  • Experience with speech recognition technologies.

Experience Requirements:
  • Candidate must have approximately 3 or more years of experience with software development.
  • Requires knowledge of software engineering functions including: requirements development, configuration management, quality assurance, testing, reliability and maintainability, cost estimating, risk analysis, metrics, and human factor integration.
  • DoD acquisition and military training experience preferable.

Education Requirements:
  • B.S. in computer engineering or computer science.

Security Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
