Hours/Weeks: Full Year, Full Time 

Hiring Range: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00

SUMMARY:

The Senior Accountant supports the financial operations of NEKCA, with $12 million in revenue that consists of federal, state, and private funders. The Senior Accountant is responsible for financial accounting, preparing financial reports, training others, updating policies and procedures, and preparing budgets. These duties involve the performance of a variety of financial and analytical reviews and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal, federal, and state regulations and policies as well as grant financial requirements. 

This Senior Accountant Position focuses on supporting the success and accuracy of Payroll processing. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  •  Build and maintain vendor relationships to secure the best prices on products for NEKCA
  •  Ensure Procurement Policies and Procedures are complied with and entered appropriately in the purchasing order system.
  •  Coordinate the purchasing of goods and services in support of program operations and coordinatoin wth Program Managers.
  •  Purchase goods/services that meet the quantity and quality expectations for program operations in coordination with Program Managers.
  •  Confirming receipts of goods with Program Managers and processing invoices for payment
  •  Compare available goods/services to determine appropriate pricing while following procurement policies
  •  Perform general ledger functions, such as updating allocations based on square footage, headcount, etc
  •  Provide seasoned experience, services, guidance, and leadership to administration, program management, and staff.
  •   Support other finance functions, such as payroll, grant requisitions, and reconciliations, as needed
  •  Attend and participate in staff, agency, and service provider meetings deemed necessary for job performance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Work closely, as needed, with the Accounts Payable accountant to resolve issues with vendors, orders, receipts, and payments
  •  Maintain accurate records and track procurement activities
  •  Updating policies and procedures for the procurement process, as needed
  •  Identify areas for cost savings and implement cost-saving strategies
  •  Maintain updated insurance documents from vendors

  •   Must have knowledge of basic computer skills and record keeping, including spreadsheet applications. 
  •   Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and database management systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employees in this position work primarily in an office environment with moderate noise levels and controlled temperature conditions. The work involves sitting for extended periods of time, using a computer and other office equipment, and may require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Position requires occasional bending, stooping, or reaching for items. Standing or moving around the office area.
