Job description

Title: Data Center Project Manager / Data Center Construction Manager
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Duration: Direct Hire / Contract to Hire
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Center Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of mission-critical data center projects. This role will manage cross-functional teams, client communication, vendors, subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and operational risks across data center construction, infrastructure deployments, network installations, and technology integration projects.
Candidate must have strong Project Management experience managing crews with proven experience with strong leadership skills, client facing skills, meeting schedules / deadlines, quality work, multi-task, organized, troubleshooting issues and experience executing successfully on infrastructure projects or telecom construction projects or technical field operations. The ideal candidate has strong experience in data center operations, structured cabling, network infrastructure, construction coordination, or critical environment project management and thrives in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of data center projects including infrastructure upgrades, rack and stack deployments, network installations, cabling projects, and critical facility initiatives
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and deliverables across multiple concurrent projects
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, contractors, field technicians, and vendors to ensure successful project execution
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, status reports, risk registers, and implementation schedules
  • Conduct project kickoff meetings, stakeholder updates, and post-project reviews
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, customer expectations, and operational procedures
  • Track project milestones, change orders, procurement timelines, and installation progress
  • Oversee site readiness activities including power, cooling, cabling, hardware staging, and deployment coordination
  • Support data center migrations, expansions, decommissioning activities, and technology refresh initiatives
  • Identify project risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies to minimize operational impact and downtime
  • Ensure documentation accuracy including method of procedures (MOPs), statements of work (SOWs), test plans, and closeout documentation
  • Collaborate with leadership teams to improve project delivery processes and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications
  • 3-7+ years of project management experience within data centers, telecommunications, construction, IT infrastructure, or mission-critical environments
  • Experience managing infrastructure deployments, structured cabling, network installations, or technical field operations
  • Strong understanding of data center environments including power, cooling, racks, cabling, servers, and network infrastructure
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, ServiceNow, or similar platforms
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center environments
  • Familiarity with low-voltage systems, fiber/copper infrastructure, or network hardware deployments
  • Background in mission-critical operations or construction management
  • OSHA 10/30 certification or strong safety program experience
  • Experience working with vendors, subcontractors, and field service organizations
