Senior Project Manager (Data Centers)

Senior Project Manager (Data Centers) - Traveling 
Position Overview
Lead the planning, delivery, and commissioning of large scale data center projects. This role is responsible for ensuring projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to required quality, safety and regulatory standards. The Senior Project Manager will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage contractors and vendors, mitigate risks, and drive operational readiness for handover to facilities teams.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of data center construction projects from initiation through handover and warranty period.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and cash flow forecasts; monitor performance against targets and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage procurement, bidding, and contracts with general contractors, trade partners, consultants, and vendors; negotiate scopes, schedules and commercial terms.
  • Coordinate design reviews and interface with engineering teams to ensure constructability and adherence to specifications for civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and IT infrastructure systems.
  • Implement and enforce quality control, safety, and environmental compliance programs on site; lead regular site inspections and audits.
  • Identify, track and mitigate project risks and issues; prepare contingency plans and escalation paths for senior leadership.
  • Lead commissioning, testing, and validation activities for critical systems (power, cooling, fire suppression, security) and ensure successful operational readiness and client acceptance.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for stakeholders including owners, clients, architects, engineers, permitting authorities and internal teams; provide clear and timely project reporting.
  • Manage change control processes and ensure accurate documentation of as-built drawings, submittals, RFIs and close-out packages.
  • Mentor and coach project team members and subordinate project managers; promote continuous improvement in project delivery processes and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • 8+ years of project management experience in data center construction, critical facilities, or heavy industrial construction; proven track record delivering multiple projects on time and on budget.
  • Strong knowledge of data center systems (UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, CRAC/CHW systems), raised floor and pod infrastructures, and critical-path commissioning.
  • Demonstrated experience with construction contracts, procurement, cost control, scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera) and change management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills with experience coordinating multi-discipline teams and third-party contractors.
