Job description

Summary

ASM, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Senior Sales Manager at ASM New Orleans. This position oversees the sales department to drive private events, convention and flat show for Caesars Superdome, Smoothie King Center, Champions Square and Shrine on Airline.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform all sales related functions including but not limited to account solicitation in the local, state, regional and national markets.
  • Responsible for setting appropriate event rental structures for all private event spaces within the complex with Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Collaborates with DOSM on forecasting, budgeting, and annual sales goals for team.
  • Handle all client pre-event correspondence and meetings prior to turning the event over to the Event Services Department and/or Food & Beverage provider.
  • Responsible for all pre-event internal communication and submission of necessary documentation to various internal departments throughout the sales/booking process.
  • Initiate license agreements for all private event definite bookings and proof prior to circulation for signatures.
  • Ensure the client is satisfied with all levels of service to achieve return business.
  • Collaborate on efforts in creating strategies to increase private event sales.
  • Manage the sales team to achieve financial performance goals.
  • Work with the marketing department to develop marketing plans, sales collateral, and promotional pieces to drive private events, suites, and premium inventory sales.
  • Aggressively seeks new leads with the private and convention sales industry.
  • Provide regular reports on confirmed sales and potential business opportunities.
  • Serves as a liaison with New Orleans & Company, the Convention Center, and hotels in the community.
  • Represent ASM at appropriate industry conferences and community events.
  • Assist GM to create a sales plan and goals for the sales staff for event suites, premium inventory, and private events.
  • Maintains, at all times, high standards, positive attitude, and professional appearance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises Assistants, Account Representatives or Coordinators in the Sales Department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, including strong proof-reading.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate high level of energy and self-motivation to work effectively and enthusiastically with co-workers.
  • Professional presentation, appearance, and work ethic.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in addition to normal business hours.
  • Ability to travel occasionally required.
  • Demonstrate personality and ability to work with high profile clients.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in sales within the convention center, hotel, hospitality, or event industries.
  • Experience with CRM system preferred.
Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of spreadsheet software and word processing software and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
