Job description

Role: Senior AWS DevOps Engineer

Position Type: Contract

Location: Tulsa, OK (3 days a week from office- Hybrid)

Job Description:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or similar fields – a Master/PhD is a bonus (CGPA > 3.0 or similar grading is a must).
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer, SysOps Engineer, Software Engineer, API Engineer, or similar role with proven experience in software development and operations.
  • Proven experience in the following technologies is a must: microservices architecture, AWS and public cloud, REST API design, Pub/sub and event-driven architecture, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Proven hands‑on experience with one or more programming languages (Java preferred), scripting languages, and CI/CD/DevOps tooling (GitLab, Terraform, EKS) using modern technologies.
  • Experience working within Agile teams and comfort in a continuous delivery environment.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, the ability to communicate with both technical and business stakeholders, highly committed, self‑driven, and customer‑oriented.
  • Team player with a hands‑on mentality; able to set priorities to craft a direction while also able to work independently.
  • Passionate and constantly learning about new software technology and architecture.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Own and drive the technical implementation and operations of core technical components, platform interfaces, security interfaces, and CI/CD pipelines, such as API Management platforms, web reverse proxies, web applications, web services, content delivery networks, and web application firewalls.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner, Solution Architect, and other Developers to define and deliver feature and operational improvements following Enterprise Architecture and Security principles.
  • Provide support to product development teams by setting up CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, monitoring, and operations; coordinating and performing releases; and providing 2nd/3rd level support for the solutions.
  • Coordinate and perform evergreen activities with product development teams.
  • Continuously explore new technologies and solutions to drive technical change on the Cloud platform.
  • Continuously explore and drive improvements in terms of new technologies and solutions on the Cloud platform.
  • Stay up to date on technology trends, focusing on Observability, Software Architecture & Security, and Cloud Computing topics.
Ideal candidate:
  • Deep knowledge of AWS: Access Management, network basics, different AWS components: lambdas, dynamodb, eventbus, sqs, sns, ECS, Docker
  • Deep knowledge of terraform: understanding terraform dependency tree, lifecycle management, state management
  • CI/CD: GitLab or similar, bash scripting, runners optimization, access management and protected environments, modern deployment strategies (blue/green, canary)
  • Observability: open telemetry, DataDog, alerting, proactive monitoring, SLOs
Good to have:
  • Programming experience in any of java/python/typescript/js
  • Troubleshooting java and ECS services, lambdas
  • EKS
  • Disaster recovery setup experience
