Job description

The Systems Engineer / Senior Computer Systems Engineer / Architect will provide senior-level technical leadership to support systems engineering, architecture, integration, modernization, and sustainment activities for the GEOMAP platform. This role serves as a subject matter expert across cloud-hosted, containerized, and mission application environments, helping ensure that system components are secure, scalable, reliable, and aligned to Air Force operational requirements. The Systems Engineer will support technical planning, architecture reviews, engineering analyses, complex troubleshooting, and cross-team coordination across development, cloud, database, cybersecurity, testing, and production support functions.
*This position is contingent based upon contract award.*
Responsibilities
  • Provide senior systems engineering and technical architecture support for the GEOMAP platform and associated environments.
  • Support system design, integration, and modernization efforts across cloud infrastructure, application services, data services, and supporting tools.
  • Conduct technical assessments, engineering analyses, and architecture reviews to identify risks, improve performance, and enhance sustainment.
  • Develop and recommend solutions to improve system scalability, security, resiliency, interoperability, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, cloud engineers, database engineers, DevSecOps personnel, testers, and support staff to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Support planning and execution of technical refresh, system enhancements, and implementation of new capabilities.
  • Assist with systems integration across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Evaluate current and proposed technical approaches for alignment with mission needs, secure design principles, and operational support requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting of system-level issues involving application performance, infrastructure dependencies, integrations, and release impacts.
  • Contribute to development of engineering documentation, architecture diagrams, interface descriptions, system procedures, and technical recommendations.
  • Support compliance with cybersecurity, configuration management, and operational standards applicable to secure mission systems.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for surge requirements, high-priority technical issues, and special engineering efforts as directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, enterprise architecture, systems integration, or related technical roles.
  • Experience supporting enterprise IT systems, cloud-hosted platforms, or mission application environments in production or sustainment settings.
  • Experience with systems analysis, architecture review, integration planning, and troubleshooting of complex technical environments.
  • Experience supporting secure cloud environments such as AWS or similar enterprise platforms.
  • Experience working in Agile, DevSecOps, or CI/CD-based software delivery environments.
  • Familiarity with containerized systems and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of system security principles, configuration management, and technical documentation practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced DoD mission environment.

Preferred
  • Experience supporting DoD or Air Force systems in secure or mission-focused environments.
  • Experience with AWS Cloud One or other federal cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting geospatial or Esri-based platforms, including ArcGIS Enterprise or related technologies.
  • Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, vulnerability remediation, and secure system hardening practices.
  • Experience supporting technical refresh, modernization, or platform migration efforts.
  • Relevant cloud, systems engineering, architecture, or cybersecurity certifications preferred.
