What is a senior composer sound designer?

Senior Composer Sound Designers are experienced professionals who create and oversee the musical scores and sound effects for various media, such as films, video games, or television shows. They are responsible for composing original music, designing audio elements, and ensuring that all sound components enhance the overall storytelling and emotional impact of a project. In addition to composing and sound design, they often collaborate with directors, producers, and audio teams to achieve the desired auditory experience. Their seniority typically means they lead projects, mentor junior staff, and make critical creative decisions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior composer sound designer?

To thrive as a Senior Composer Sound Designer, you need advanced musical composition skills, sound design expertise, and a strong portfolio, often supported by a degree in music, audio engineering, or a related field. Mastery of digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and sound libraries, as well as familiarity with middleware such as Wwise or FMOD, is typically required. Creativity, collaboration, and strong communication skills help you work effectively with directors, game developers, and other team members. These abilities ensure the creation of immersive, high-quality soundscapes that elevate projects and meet the vision of stakeholders.

How do senior composer sound designers typically collaborate with game development teams during the production process?

Senior Composer Sound Designers work closely with game developers, producers, and other audio professionals to create and implement the overall soundscape for a project. They often participate in early design meetings to align musical and sound design elements with the game's vision and narrative. Throughout production, they provide regular updates, adapt to feedback from creative leads, and may oversee a team of junior sound designers or external contractors. Effective communication and flexibility are key, as priorities may shift and new creative challenges can arise at any stage.

Job description

About ACQ Media
ACQ Media is the in-house media engine behind Acquisition.com and its portfolio of brands led
by Alex Hormozi, Leila Hormozi, and Sharran Srivatsaa.
Our mission is to build the leading business media organization in the world by 2030.
We produce high-performance long-form series, podcasts, and daily social content that reach
millions of people around the globe. Our content is not vanity media - it is designed to drive
measurable reach, deepen brand influence, and create downstream business impact across the
entire Acquisition.com ecosystem.
We operate like a studio, not a startup content team. That means structured workflows,
high-volume production, clear performance standards, and an aggressive commitment to
innovation - including AI-native audio workflows.
If you're joining ACQ Media, you're not here to just mix audio. You're here to help build a media
powerhouse.
Role
The Sound Designer is a core member of ACQ Media's post-production audio team, responsible
for executing high-quality audio work across multiple series and content formats simultaneously.
You will work within an established pipeline - supported and mentored by the Senior Sound
Designer - handling dialogue editing, sound design, music integration, and mix on long-form
series, podcasts, and social content. You will also support production audio capture on set as
needed, gaining hands-on experience working alongside high-profile talent in a professional
production environment.
This is a role for someone who is serious about their craft, eager to grow, and genuinely excited
to be part of a collaborative team. You don't need to have all the answers yet - but you need to
care deeply about the work, be coachable, and show up for the people around you.
Reports directly to the Senior Sound Designer. Must be in Las Vegas, NV or willing to relocate.
Responsibilities
Audio Execution & Sound Design
• Execute dialogue editing, sound design, music integration, and audio mix across
assigned series and content formats
• Deliver clean, polished audio that meets ACQ Media's quality standards and brand
guidelines for each project
• Work across multiple active series simultaneously, managing your own workload and
flagging timeline risks early
• Apply consistent mix templates, sound design direction, and delivery specs as
established by the Senior Sound Designer
• Contribute creative ideas and solutions - your perspective on the work matters and is
welcome
Post-Production Audio Support
• Support the full audio post pipeline from raw production files through final delivery
• Perform audio cleanup, noise reduction, and dialogue restoration to ensure production
recordings are post-ready
• Integrate music, sound effects, and ambient elements in service of the story and brand
tone
• Complete QC passes on your own work before submission, catching issues before they
become revisions
• Collaborate closely with video editors to ensure audio decisions serve the overall cut
Production Audio Support
• Assist with on-set audio capture as needed, supporting the production team during
shoots
• Help maintain organized, clearly labeled audio files and session handoffs so nothing gets
lost between production and post
• Follow production audio best practices and flag any capture issues immediately so they
can be addressed before post
Workflow & Standards
• Follow established audio workflows, intake processes, and naming conventions
consistently
• Keep project sessions organized, well-documented, and easy for any team member to
pick up
• Communicate clearly and proactively with the Senior Sound Designer and post team
about workload, progress, and any blockers
• Contribute to a clean, reliable handoff culture - your outputs should make the next
person's job easier, not harder
Growth & Collaboration
• Actively engage with feedback from the Senior Sound Designer - take it seriously,
apply it, and ask questions
• Stay curious about new tools, techniques, and AI-driven audio solutions; share what
you're learning with the team
• Support teammates when bandwidth allows and accept help when you need it - this
team wins together
• Bring a collaborative, no-ego attitude to every project and every interaction
Requirements
• 3+ years of professional experience in audio post-production, sound design, or a closely
related audio discipline
• Solid foundation in dialogue editing, sound design, music integration, and mix for
long-form or short-form content
• Experience working within established post-production pipelines and delivering to spec
on deadline
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without losing quality or missing
handoffs
• Comfortable working within project management systems (Monday.com) and
collaborative post pipelines
• Familiarity with industry-standard DAWs audio tools and programs
• Exposure to AI audio tools is a plus - curiosity about them is a must
• Comfortable working in project management systems and collaborative production
environments
• A genuine team player - you communicate openly, accept feedback well, and make the
people around you better
• Podcast and YouTube content experience is a plus
• You don't need to be the most experienced person in the room - you need to be the
most coachable
Results
• Assigned audio deliverables are completed on time, at standard, and with minimal
revision cycles
• Sessions are consistently organized, clearly labeled, and easy for any team member to
pick up without confusion
• Production audio handoffs into post are supported reliably - files are clean, organized,
and ready to work with
• Feedback from the Senior Sound Designer is applied quickly and visibly - growth is
measurable over time
• The team experiences you as someone who makes collaboration easier, not harder
• Over time, your work requires less oversight and your creative instincts become a
trusted part of the team's output
At ACQ Media, we don't just hire for skill - we hire for character. We want people who are
excellent at what they do and genuinely good to work with. If that's you, we'd love to meet you.
Benefits:
We offer a comprehensive, evolving benefits package designed to support your health, family, and wellbeing. Some key offerings:
  • Flexible Unlimited Paid Time Off and Company-wide Holidays
  • Employer sponsored Medical, Dental, & Vision plans
    • $1,950 annual Employer HSA contribution
    • FSA options including dependent care

  • Employer match program for 401(k), eligible for both Traditional and Roth accounts
  • $1,200 annual wellness reimbursement through JOON that supports health, family care, pet care, fitness, and more!
  • For local or visiting team members, enjoy access to a state of the art gym at our HQ in Las Vegas

* Benefits eligibility applies only to full-time exempt roles.
ACQ Core Values:
Our core values are the heart and soul of this incredible company. The right person for this role will appreciate each of these values, personally subscribe to them, and understand why each is critical to having a great business.
Competitive Greatness
Be at your best when your best is needed. Enjoyment of a hard challenge. Those who have the drive to constantly improve, the superior intellect and long term commitment to see incremental improvements become compounding returns.
