Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst (Upstream)

Position Summary

The Senior FP&A Analyst is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and management reporting that support critical development-stage decisions. The analyst will build and maintain models covering project capital expenditures (capex), operating expenditures (opex), cash flow, and mine economics. The role demands strong analytical rigor, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex financial and technical data into clear insights for leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and enhance the company's financial models, including project economics (NPV, IRR, payback), capex and opex forecasts, and life-of-mine cash flow models.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic reforecasts, consolidating inputs from project, exploration, technical, and G&A functions.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting packages, including budget-to-actual variance analysis with clear commentary on drivers.
  • Track development capital spend against approved budgets and AFEs flagging overruns and cost trends early.
  • Monitor and forecast liquidity, supporting working capital management through the development phase.
  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis on key value drivers such as commodity prices, grades, recovery rates, throughput, and input costs.
  • Partner with technical teams to translate feasibility study and engineering assumptions into financial forecasts.
  • Contribute to the development of finance processes, controls, systems, and reporting infrastructure as the company scales toward production.
  • Support ad hoc analysis and strategic initiatives as directed by leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of FP&A or corporate finance โ€” mining, resources, energy, or capital-intensive industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, including the ability to build dynamic, three-statement and project cash flow models from scratch.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
  • Self-starter comfortable working in a fast-paced, development-stage environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with mining project economics, feasibility studies (PEA/PFS/DFS), or mine planning inputs.
  • Familiarity with AFE tracking, capital cost estimating, and construction-phase cost control.
  • Exposure to ERP systems, FP&A platforms and data-visualization tools.
  • Understanding of mining industry cost metrics and commodity markets.

The work environment will be a mix of a typical office environment, a construction site, and a mining site. Noise level: Normal office and lab noises.
