  • Lead internal, external, and customer audits and ensure readiness for certification requirements.
  • Maintain controlled documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and inspection criteria.

Process Control & Quality Improvement
  • Implement and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor process stability and identify variation.
  • Conduct FMEA and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to proactively identify risks and eliminate recurring defects.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to reduce scrap, rework, and process variation.
  • Support optimization of coating application, curing processes, and production line performance.

Product Quality & Testing
  • Oversee laboratory and production testing of coated products, including:
    • Coating thickness, adhesion, gloss, hardness, and solvent resistance
    • Color matching using spectrophotometry
    • Mechanical testing (bend, impact, flexibility)
    • Corrosion resistance testing (salt spray, humidity, cyclic testing per ASTM B117)
    • Cure verification and process temperature validation
  • Ensure all products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.

Customer & Supplier Quality
  • Serve as primary quality contact for customer complaints, claims, and non-conformance resolution.
  • Lead 8D problem-solving, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
  • Manage supplier quality programs, including audits and incoming material compliance.
  • Issue and track Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs) as needed.

Continuous Improvement & Leadership
  • Lead Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
  • Train and mentor operators and technicians on quality standards, inspection methods, and defect prevention.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve first-pass yield and overall process capability.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Quality team.

Working Conditions:
  • Split between lab/office and production floor requires hands-on interaction with coating process.
  • Exposure to solvents, chemical coatings, high temperatures, and moving machinery, requires the use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection).
  • Flexibility to support off-shift troubleshooting and urgent quality-related issues.

Qualifications: Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of quality experience in coil coating, metal processing, or chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ASTM standards for coated metals, and SPC methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with coating defect analysis, corrosion testing, and process validation.
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred), Root Cause Analysis, and Lean Manufacturing tools.
