Maintenance Electrician

Compensation & Highlights

Job Summary

The Maintenance Electrician installs, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial electrical systems, production equipment, and automated machinery in a metal fabrication and coil coating environment. This role performs both preventative and reactive maintenance on motors, conveyors, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and production lines to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Core Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot: Diagnose and repair industrial electrical systems and automated machinery.
  • Maintain: Perform PMs on motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and production lines.
  • Power Systems: Install and repair 120V, 240V, and 480V 3-phase power systems.
  • Schematics: Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Controls & PLCs: Troubleshoot sensors, relays, contactors, VFDs, and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Testing: Use multimeters and amp meters to diagnose electrical issues accurately.
  • Projects: Install conduit, wiring, and control panels for upgrades and modifications.
  • Safety: Strictly follow OSHA, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company safety procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years of industrial maintenance electrician experience preferred.
  • Electrical: Proven experience troubleshooting 480V 3-phase electrical systems.
  • Blueprints: Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics.
  • Automation: Hands-on experience with PLC and VFD troubleshooting.
  • Language: Bilingual communication skills (English / Spanish) are a significant plus.
  • Physical: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably in a manufacturing environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $40.00/hr.
