  • Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and NC programs to ensure accuracy and alignment with production specifications.
  • Monitor tool life and tool wear, make cutter comp adjustments or replace tools as needed to maintain optimal performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
  • Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure they meet quality standards, and document and report any deviations or defects.
  • Identify and implement process improvements by applying best practices and lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Mentor and train junior machinists and operators by providing guidance on best practices, safety procedures, and efficient machine operations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production runs, machine settings, and maintenance activities to ensure proper documentation and accessibility.
  • Work closely with engineers, CNC programmers, production planners, and other team members to resolve production issues and meet project deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot programs and manufacturing issues on the shop floor.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associateโ€™s degree in machining or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a CNC machinist, with a proven track record of operating and setting up CNC machines.
  • Proficiency in operating multi-axis mills, mill-turns, lathes, and other machining equipment.
  • Experience with Makino, Mazak, and Heller machining centers preferred.
  • Experience with Fanuc, Mazatrol, and Siemens Sinumerik controls preferred.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, and G-Code NC programs.
