Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what's next.
Netflix is looking for a planner to lead fleet planning and optimization for our global hardware infrastructure. In this role, you will own the end-to-end strategy for how Netflix acquires, deploys, and retires physical hardware assets - ensuring we have the right capacity, in the right place, at the right time, to power the world's leading streaming service.
You'll work at the intersection of engineering, finance, and supply chain, translating complex demand signals into actionable fleet strategies. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that requires both deep analytical rigor and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across the organization.
About the Team
The Open Connect Infrastructure Capacity Planning team plays a central role in ensuring that our members and internal customers consistently enjoy a seamless experience, achieved through the timely deployment and ongoing management of Netflix's owned infrastructure capacity. Our team is dedicated to the development of long-range capacity forecasts that are forward-looking, adaptable to rapidly evolving product needs, and focused on efficiency. We collaborate closely with a diverse range of cross-functional stakeholders to understand their current and future infrastructure requirements and make strategic recommendations around product implementation and design. Some of our team's core responsibilities include:
  • Development of Long-Range Infrastructure Capacity Strategies: Create forward-looking strategies that inform long-term financial planning, network design, and near-term deployment and implementation decisions.
  • Effective Infrastructure Allocation: Convert demand forecasts across multiple products into clear, actionable capacity plans and strategic recommendations to drive investment decisions. Balance infrastructure availability across product types.
  • Data-Driven Analyses for Platform Optimization and Scalability: Conduct ongoing, data-driven analyses focused on optimizing efficiency, spend, and architectural direction while ensuring long-term platform scalability and resiliency.
  • Risk Assessment & Management: Identification of potential risks related to capacity shortages or excesses and development of mitigation strategies.
  • Infrastructure Performance Monitoring: Continuous tracking of infrastructure performance and utilization to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies.

What You'll Do
  • Own the multi-year fleet refresh plan for Netflix's global hardware infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, and storage systems, translating engineering roadmaps and business priorities into coherent long-term fleet plans.
  • Partner with Engineering, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to align fleet strategy with business priorities and budget constraints
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to define and track key fleet health metrics (utilization, age distribution, failure rates) to drive continuous optimization and life-cycle optimization
  • Lead hardware procurement planning in collaboration with Business Operations team, ensuring supply meets demand without over-provisioning
  • Identify opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) through smarter fleet composition, lifecycle management, and decommissioning strategies, and build the business case for those changes.
  • Build and present fleet planning roadmaps and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Drive cross-functional alignment on fleet standards, refresh policies, and end-of-life decisions, ensuring consistency across engineering and infrastructure teams.
  • Act as a thought partner to engineering leads on how emerging hardware technologies and architectural changes should influence future fleet composition.

What you'll bring to the role
  • 5+ years of experience in capacity planning for data center or cloud platforms, or network planning.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data analysis and visualization, with proficiency in SQL, Python a plus.
  • Knowledge of - or strong curiosity about - the internet, or telecom ecosystem
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for both technical and executive audiences.
  • A track record of turning ambiguous, cross-functional problems into structured plans, even when the underlying data is incomplete.
  • Comfort operating independently while building consensus across teams that don't report to you.
  • Technical Program Management Experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in AI tools

Nice to Have
  • A degree in Management Information Systems, Management Consulting, Statistics, or a related quantitative field - or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Technical Program Management experience, particularly in environments spanning engineering, finance, and operations.
  • Familiarity with hardware lifecycle management, procurement processes, or supply-chain planning.
  • Experience building financial or TCO models to support infrastructure investment decisions.

We know great candidates come from a range of backgrounds and paths, so if you don't check every box above but bring strong, relevant experience, we still encourage you to apply.
Why Join This Team
This is an opportunity to shape how Netflix plans and invests in the physical infrastructure that delivers streaming to hundreds of millions of members worldwide. You'll have visibility into decisions that carry real financial and operational weight, direct exposure to senior leadership, and the chance to build planning frameworks that will scale with Netflix's continued growth. If you enjoy working where data, strategy, and cross-functional influence meet, this role offers a rare amount of ownership over that intersection.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options.
