Job description

Job Title: Sr. Business Systems Analyst

Duration: 6+ Months with possible extension

Location: 433 West Van Buren Street, Suite 501S, Chicago, IL 60607

The Senior Business System Analyst (BSA) will work closely with different business units to gain in-depth understanding of the strategies, processes, roadmaps and the context in which the business and IT operates.

  • The senior BSA is responsible for delivering quality products by understanding end user needs, developing detailed requirements, supporting technical designs and process improvement.
  • The candidate will work with various stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate business/user requirements.
  • The senior BSA will help translate these business needs and end-user requirements into functional specifications that describe what the system, process or service must do to fulfill the business and user requirements.
  • The ideal candidate will be dedicated and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Participate in various SCRUM team meetings including team members from: the business, management, IT and senior leadership Ensure the user stories meet the INVEST principal and definition of ready
  • Performing complex professional business analysis and application development related duties
  • Elicit complex business requirements through the facilitation of joint application design (JAD) sessions with both business and technology stakeholders
  • Write detailed specifications of requested system changes
  • Write data specifications, release notes, user guides and other deliverables as needed
  • Assisting with creation & refinement of design (mockup) on new functionality
  • Develop and execute data mapping plans for conversions and migrations
  • Providing Assisting with creation & refinement of design (mockup) on new functionality
  • Suggest software and process improvements Prior involvement with implementing and integrating COTS software solutions to support proprietary processes .
  • Write queries to analyze business data to assist in decision making and ad hoc reporting
  • Familiarity with financial systems a plus

Key responsibilities:

  • Understanding of software development process using a formal software development life cycle (SDLC) methodology. (Waterfall/Scrum)
  • Familiar with automated project management and documentation tools (e.g. flowcharting, data modeling, Excel, UI design, Visio)
  • Familiar with common techniques and tools for modeling system diagrams, business processes, functional process and interfaces
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes Identify and resolve business systems issues
  • Work with business team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals
  • Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals Participates in planning relevant project, enhancement, and maintenance activities
  • Develop and maintain business domain knowledge
  • Demonstrates adherence to IT Principles and critical thinking Assist in software releases and roll-outs, and communicate to the end users about status and project conditions
  • Perform software improvements and upgrades
  • Perform code deployments and releases
  • Complete all tasks with a focus on quality
  • Meet or exceed established SLOs
  • Provide guidance to less experienced members of the team
  • Provide timely reports on the status of projects as well as any unforeseen issues to management and to business units
  • Comply with all assigned administrative and operational tasks
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and FAQ resources on the Internet/Intranet to aid in problem resolution
  • Works to promote an understanding of business process and business requirements with technical staff
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization
  • Test fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of general testing principles and best practices
