Job description

Compensation Amount:

21.00 USD Hourly

Job Summary:

Our Tour Boat Captains pilot twin outboard 45' Corinthian Catamarans in Everglades Backcountry and Near Costal Florida Bay waters. Our Captains operate in strict compliance with USCG regulations and are responsible for the safety of passengers and crew, for providing and documenting crew training and drills, and for typical vessel preventative maintenance services.
Crew on our Corinthians is a Naturalist / Narrator / Deckhand although we occasionally run Six Pack tours without a Naturalist where an inclination to narrate is necessary. We may also have a need for Six Pack Captains.
This position requires willingness to participate in random USCG Drug Screening.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Safe operation, cleaning, and general up keep of a passenger vessel.
  • Safe vessel tie up to docks and piers;
  • Positive communication with crew;
  • Passenger embarkation/debarkation safety and operation;
  • Repair and modification of related equipment such as pumps, lines, hoses;
  • Grease, lube, and maintenance of the marine systems;
  • Maintain accurate logs and records;
  • Interacts with customers and management in a professional manner

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

  • Current USCG MMC 25+ GRT Near Coastal or Inland waters. TWIC and STCW are NOT required.
  • OUPV Six Pack Captains are encouraged to apply for training positions
  • Valid state Driver's License
  • Previous experience narrating tours is a plus.
  • Must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others is essential.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk on nearly a constant basis
  • Able to bend, rotate and reach frequently
  • Carry, push/pull and/or lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely
  • Manipulate/handle/grip materials required to perform job
  • Maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel
  • Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job
  • Must be capable of performing emergency duties as listed in the vessel's station bill

EQUIPMENT USED

  • Single and Twin engine motor vessels ranging from 15' to 45' LOA.
  • Pickup trucks for launching / retrieving / trailering the above vessels
  • Typical Marina, boat, and dock maintenance equipment associate with the position
