Job Overview

The Senior Biorepository Coordinator (SrBC) is the lead coordinator for the Center for Translational Transplant Medicine (CTTM) biorepository. This biorepository involves the consent and enrollment of hundreds of pediatric and adult patients who are undergoing transplants or abdominal surgeries (liver, kidney, pancreas, bowel) around the clock. The SrBC is responsible for leading operations and maintaining the bank of blood and tissue. They indirectly oversee more junior coordinators in the lab and lead the training of new personnel and the CTTM research team responsible for maintaining operations during off hours and holidays. The SrBC leads communication with the Principal Investigator(s) and research team as well as the multidisciplinary clinical team to assure collections are made per Protocol with utmost concern to specimen integrity. They will lead scheduling and fair rotation into the 24/7 CTTM research call schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Work Interactions

The SrBC works under the direct supervision of the CTTM Lab Manager and owns operations of biorepository activities, with indirect oversight by the Scientific Medical Director of CTTM. They work primarily amongst their basic translational research team and clinical operations, interfacing with multiple MGUH/GUMC departments such as the transplant inpatient and outpatient service, operating room personnel, endoscopy, ICU, and medical units. They also interact with internal and external academic collaborators, ie. the NIH, Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC), etc.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or related field with at least 3 years research coordinator I or equivalent research experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft, google, electronic medical records, and other computer applications.

  • Comfortable with unpredictability and change, in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with clinical operations, medical terminology, and specimen collections/processing

  • Experience with OnCore (Clinical Trials Management System)

Pay Range:

The projectedsalary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$21.16 - $35.29

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
