Senior Scientist II, Data Solutions - Sales

Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians. Our data empowers researchers to better characterize and understand disease, and to drive better outcomes through precise, individualized care.

We built Tempus to collect, structure, and organize data from disparate sources to power innovation and discovery. And now we are looking for a Senior Scientist II, Data Solutions - Sales to join our rapidly growing Life Sciences team. This role will focus on establishing and expanding partnerships with pharmaceutical companies while driving revenue for Tempus product line.

Senior Scientist II, Data Solutions - Sales - RWE & Insights is responsible for cultivating and growing Tempus partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to support them in advancing their research, clinical and/or commercial programs. The Data Solutions professional works deeply with customers to understand their key research aims and develop targeted solutions with Tempus colleagues that leverage our products / services in data.

Responsibilities

  • Meet/exceed revenue goals for set product line while delivering on established strategic objectives for specific client accounts
  • Build relationships with R&D and commercial executives at partner organizations, enabling identification, development of and support for additional value-creation opportunities
  • Develop deep scientific understanding of customer pipelines and commercial objectives
  • Deploy consultative approach to understand where Tempus products/services can meaningfully impact performance against clients' R&D and/or commercial objectives; drive impetus for adoption of Tempus products / services
  • Proactively develop and implement scientific strategies and reports to drive and progress customer engagement and become a trusted scientific advisor
  • Communicate the scientific and technical plans and outcomes to a cross-functional group of stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Partner with Account Team (Key Account Directors, Alliance Management, Operations) to ensure success against opportunity pipeline
  • Collaborate with Alliance Management and Operations to manage existing business and identify new opportunities for account growth
  • Track progress against defined strategic objectives and revenue goals; review progress/setbacks frequently with broader Account Team and Tempus Leadership
  • Contribute to the development of the Life Sciences portfolio by providing feedback to Leadership regarding client responses and suggestions; maintain a solution-oriented mindset
  • Stay informed on pharmaceutical industry, regulatory environment, emerging policy developments and client priorities
  • Travel approximately 30% of working time, domestically and internationally
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education to Masters or PhD level combining:
    • Quantitative and/or computational skills e.g. Computational Biology, Biostatistics/Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Informatics, Biometrics, Data Science for Health or similar
    • biological or medical knowledge e.g. Cancer Biology, Human Disease, Genetics/Genomics, Molecular Biology or Immunology
      And / Or
    • 2+ years of post-grad experience in data science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, epidemiology, immunology, public health, or related fields.
    • Computational skills using SQL, Python and R, especially relevant statistical tools and visualization packages
  • Experience with Clinical Trial Design and/or Real World Evidence datasets
  • Experience with integrative methods to model multi-modal clinical and/or omics data
  • Proactive mindset that bridges ideas to implementable solutions, and can help move both internal and external stakeholders to quickly solve problems
  • Proven ability to build deep relationships with pharmaceutical stakeholders based on common scientific understanding
  • Deep knowledge of Drug Discovery, Translational Research / Computational Biology or Real World Evidence methodologies, specifically in Oncology, with passable knowledge of the other discipline
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting creativity, innovation, and scientific excellence

  • Experience in agile environments and comfort with quick iterations
  • Exceptional account management, articulation of issues and an ability to navigate a wide range of stakeholders to solve problems

CHI: $140,000-$210,000
NYC/SF: $140,000-$210,000

The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from California and may vary for other locations (Colorado, Illinois, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
