Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking a Senior Analyst to join its Practice & Pricing Analytics team - a strategic advisor to attorneys, practice leaders, and business professionals on the pricing, profitability, and financial performance of legal services. In this highly visible role, the Senior Analyst will interpret key financial metrics, evaluate pricing options, and provide guidance on client budgets, alternative fee arrangements, matter economics, and broader firmwide pricing initiatives. Working closely with a collaborative team of analysts, the Senior Analyst will help improve pricing tools, methodologies, and processes while supporting data-driven decision-making across the firm. The role requires strong analytical skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to consistently translate complex financial concepts into clear, practical recommendations for partners and senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop scenarios and models to assess the financial impact and profitability of pricing proposals, and recommend practical pricing solutions that balance client objectives with firm profitability goals, including alternative fee arrangements
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to partners and stakeholders by translating financial and performance metrics, including utilization, leverage, realization, margin, and profitability, into clear pricing recommendations
  • Monitor the performance of pricing arrangements against agreed-upon fee terms, budgets, key performance indicators, and profitability targets
  • Analyze underperforming pricing arrangements and historical matter performance to identify drivers, recommend corrective actions, and improve future pricing proposals and fee structures
  • Review client engagement letters, Outside Counsel Guidelines, and fee arrangement terms to identify pricing implications, risks, and implementation considerations
  • Lead or support pricing components of client RFPs, pitches, panel submissions, and other strategic pursuits in collaboration with Business Development and Marketing
  • Draft client-ready pricing narratives, assumptions, and supporting analyses that clearly communicate the value and structure of proposed fee arrangements
  • Provide analysis in support of annual and ongoing firm processes, including partner compensation, practice group economics, strategic planning, and client fee renewals
  • Support the annual billing rate setting process, including rate analysis and development, internal approvals, coordination of system updates, and ongoing governance to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of pricing tools, dashboards, reports, templates, and processes that support data-driven decision-making and effective pricing strategies
  • Utilize technology, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, enhance insights, and support informed decision-making across day-to-day functions
  • Stay informed of legal market pricing trends, client buying behaviors, and competitor approaches, and apply those insights to strengthen the firm's pricing capabilities
  • Work closely with departmental management, individual partners, and cross-functional teams, including Finance, Business Development, Marketing, and operations, to develop and assess pricing strategies and deliver integrated solutions
  • Provide informal mentorship, quality review, and knowledge-sharing to analysts and colleagues, as appropriate
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial analysis, pricing, and/or profitability required
  • Experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of financial metrics and billing practices strongly desired
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and develop practical recommendations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial metrics, assumptions, scope, and pricing concepts clearly to attorneys and senior leadership
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to shifting deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

In support of transparency and equity in the workplace, Foley provides salary ranges for all positions. The figures below represent the full compensation range of this position. The actual offered amount will be between the range minimum and midpoint based on the following factors: education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity at Foley. Dallas, Chicago, & Houston - $102,500 to $153,800

Washington D.C. - $111,800 to $167,800
