About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to deliver exceptional customer service and financial solutions through both branch-based and call center interactions. This role serves as a key point of contact for customers, addressing their banking needs, answering inquiries, and providing personalized support across multiple communication channels, including in-person, phone, and online.

Essential Functions

  • Interact with customers both in person and over the phone to ensure their financial needs are being met through needs-based conversations and sales fulfillment

  • Actively listen, understand, and make recommendations of products and services based on customer needs to ensure individual and team sales and services goals are achieved

  • Educate customers on a variety of retail products and digital solutions that enhance the customer experience and contribute to achieving sales goals

  • Ensure financial transactions are completed accurately and efficiently, while complying with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

  • Identify complex financial needs and refer customers to bank specialists when appropriate

  • Respond to customer calls, offering real-time solutions for account management, online banking, and transactional inquiries

  • Utilize CRM systems to track and resolve customer issues efficiently and maintain detailed records of interactions

  • Authenticate callers to ensure our customers and the bank are protected from fraud attempts and take additional steps to mitigate risk when needed

  • Responsible for more advanced product and system knowledge such as Online Banking Services

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Strong sales skills with the ability to provide an excellent customer experience by easily connecting with customers in-person and over the phone

  • Ability to meet personal and customer services expectations

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality

  • Ability to maintain a valid driverโ€™s license and meet Commerce Bankโ€™s driving record criteria; ongoing employment may be contingent upon meeting all driving requirements

  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 1+ years of retail banking and/or sales experience required

  • 2+ years of customer service experience required

At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $21.40 - $27.65 per hour. Depending on the job level, this position may be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
