High-End Residential Install • Career Growth Opportunity
We are looking for a craftsman who takes pride in a perfectly dressed rack and a clean job site. If you are a master installer ready to take the next step in automation, we want to talk to you.
About the Role
Jarvis Smart Homes is seeking a Senior AV Technician to join our team, working primarily in south Houston. This role is designed for an experienced, hands-on technician who excels at the physical side of the industry-mounting, retrofitting, structured wiring, and rack building-and is ready to take on increased technical responsibility.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a senior technician who can take a set of plans, lead the work on site, work alongside a helper, and execute a flawless install. On larger projects, this role will also coordinate day-to-day installation activities with subcontractors to ensure work is aligned, sequenced correctly, and meets Jarvis Smart Homes' standards.
While deep programming knowledge is not required on Day 1, this role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Automation Programmer.
What You Will Do
  • Lead the Physical Install
You are the technical point person on site. You will handle TV mounting, speaker installation, rack building, and structured wiring, setting the standard for clean, professional work.
  • Work Side-by-Side with a Helper
You will regularly work with a junior installer or helper-showing best practices, explaining the "why," and helping them grow through hands-on mentorship. This is not a crew-management role.
  • Coordinate with Subcontractors (As Needed)
On larger projects, you will collaborate with subcontractors (e.g., electricians, cabling teams, specialty trades) to coordinate scope, timing, and quality-without direct personnel management responsibility.
  • System Deployment
Install and test network hardware (Ubiquiti / Eero), IP cameras, and automation devices.
  • Basic Configuration & System Bring-Up
Assist with getting systems online, updated, and tested. If you have programming experience, you'll use it; if not, you'll begin learning it here.

What We Are Looking For
  • 3+ Years of Experience
Proven history in residential AV or low-voltage installation.
  • The "Hands"
Confidence fishing wire in finished walls, mounting TVs on various surfaces, and building tidy, professional racks.
  • The "Head"
Solid understanding of home networks (setting up WAPs, testing speed and connectivity).
  • Automation Experience (Preferred)
Familiarity with Control4 or Savant is a plus, but not required. We are happy to train the right master installer.
  • Professional Maturity
Comfortable collaborating with teammates, helpers, and subcontractors, and communicating professionally with clients.
  • Requirements
Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check.

Growth & Career Path
We believe in promoting from within. This role offers a clear pathway to:
  • Senior Technician → Automation Programmer
  • Automation Programmer → Project Manager

We provide paid training and support to help you obtain Control4 and Savant certifications.
About Jarvis Smart Homes
Based in Friendswood, Jarvis Smart Homes is a locally owned integrator that prioritizes quality craftsmanship over high-volume churn. We serve high-end residential clients who expect perfection, and we treat our team with that same level of care and respect.
Unlike large corporate shops where technicians are just a number, here you'll work closely with the owner, have a dedicated helper for physical support, and collaborate with trusted subcontractors on larger projects.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume. In your application, briefly mention the most complex or custom installation you have completed.
Compensation: $60,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
Our company is dedicated to serving our customers and our community. Our team is chosen for their knowledge, experience, training, efficiency and courtesy. If you want to be part of our home-grown culture and winning team, please apply today!
