Job description

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Leader to serve as the Architectural Manager/Sr. Architectural Manager in the posting location below. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Architect to grow the Phoenix office with the backing of a successful company. This key leadership position will provide entrepreneurial drive to develop business opportunities along with technical leadership. Specific responsibilities include cultivating strong client relationships, leading marketing activities, building a local team, developing and mentoring staff, collaborating with other disciplines, establishing and maintaining budgets, and working in partnership with leadership throughout the company.

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as a seller-doer, generating work, creating long-term relationships and delivering long-term value to clients.
  • Play a key leadership role on projects throughout all project stages.
  • Create, manage, and produce projects for municipal, higher education, and other institutional and commercial clients.
  • Key contributions to further define and guide the strategic plan throughout the region.
  • Manage regional business development pursuits, including strategic proposal development for the group and coordinating a core group of interior design and architecture professionals to achieve business development and financial goals.
  • Leading and coordinating business development efforts, including market research, client relationships, developing leads and securing contracts.
  • Developing and driving marketing plans, budgets and key performance indicators.
  • Developing, reviewing and approving proposals, reports and contract documents.

What You'll Need:
  • Multidisciplinary experience in any or all the following markets: Municipal, Higher Education, and Commercial.
  • Demonstrated design insight and leadership on major projects.
  • Experience with responding to Requests for Proposals, Expression of Interests, Statement of Qualifications.
  • Strong business development skills, including significant experience building and maintaining productive relationships with a client base.
  • An entrepreneurial orientation with a strong understanding of the business development challenges of a consulting services provider.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, coordination, leadership, team-building and managerial skills.
  • Knowledge of market assessment techniques, insights and contacts.
  • Proven success in developing new clients and maintaining strong client relationships.

Nice To Haves:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, from a NAAB accredited program, required; Master's, preferred
  • Registered Architect in Arizona, required; NCARB preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in architectural design and planning of facilities within core markets
  • Proven business development experience in the architectural industry.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise, proven project management, supervisory and business development experience.
