AL-MONITOR (AL-MONITOR.com) is an award-winning media service founded in 2012 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Jamal Daniel. Its mission is to foster a deeper understanding of the Middle East through world-class reporting and analysis from and about the region. In just its second year, AL-MONITOR received the prestigious International Press Institute’s Free Media Pioneer Award, becoming the only American media outlet exclusively covering the Middle East to earn this distinction.

AL-MONITOR is widely read by U.S., international, and Middle East decision-makers at the highest levels, as well as by media, thought leaders, experts, and students. Its audience includes institutions such as the White House, Harvard University, NATO, the World Bank, and foreign and defense ministries around the world. With a multilingual platform that includes Mandarin Chinese, AL-MONITOR reaches a global audience seeking trusted, in-depth coverage of the region.

The Role

The Senior Analytics Manager leads the measurement, reporting, and data infrastructure that tell AL-MONITOR how it is performing. You consolidate data from across our platforms into a single, trusted source, own the analytics stack from Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to HubSpot and Looker Studio, and ensure tracking is accurate and complete across the site. Working closely with the development team, you build the pipelines and reporting that make data accessible to the whole company, and you translate complex data into clear insight and recommendations for marketing, editorial, product, and leadership. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role that sits within product and analytics and supports every part of the business, well suited to an analyst who is as strong a communicator as they are a technician.

What You’ll Do
  • Own and manage AL-MONITOR’s analytics stack, including Google Analytics (GA4), Google Tag Manager, HubSpot, Looker Studio, and Google Collab/VS Code
  • Consolidate data from multiple sources into a single source of truth, building and maintaining the pipelines, BigQuery datasets, and API connections that feed reporting
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and automated reports that give each team self-serve access to the metrics they need
  • Establish and maintain measurement frameworks, tracking plans, and metric definitions so reporting is consistent across the company
  • Implement and QA tags, event tracking, and UTMs, and monitor data integrity to identify and resolve tracking discrepancies
  • Collaborate with the development team to scope and implement tracking codes and on-site instrumentation, ensuring accurate tagging and data-layer integrity
  • Partner with the Executive Director, Product & Analytics and the development team on data-collection standards, including taxonomy, URL structure, and naming conventions, to streamline how data is captured and reported
  • Produce weekly and monthly performance reporting against company KPIs, and partner with the Head of Business & Growth on KPI tracking and progress toward goals
  • Partner with Marketing to design, measure, and interpret A/B tests and campaign performance
  • Partner with Editorial to analyze content and audience performance, identifying what drives engagement and where the opportunities are
  • Measure and report on SEO, AI optimization (AIO), and generative engine optimization (GEO) performance, so the company understands how search and AI-driven discovery are affecting our reach and traffic
  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing on SEO and AIO best practices, and with the Executive Director, Product & Analytics to turn those findings into action on the site
  • Translate analysis into clear insights, recommendations, and presentation-ready decks for stakeholders and leadership
  • Document reporting, data sources, and tracking so processes are transparent and not dependent on any single person
  • Stay current on analytics and measurement best practices and recommend improvements to tools and processes

What You Need to Succeed
  • 5+ years in analytics, web analytics, or marketing analytics, ideally in media, publishing, or a digital-first business
  • Expertise in Google Analytics (GA4) and Google Tag Manager, including tag implementation, event tracking, and data-layer configuration
  • Advanced SQL and hands-on experience with BigQuery or a comparable data warehouse to consolidate, join, and transform data from multiple sources
  • Proven experience building and automating dashboards in Looker Studio (Google Data Studio), including connecting multiple sources through APIs, connectors, or a data warehouse
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript for Google Tag Manager, and scripting for automation and API integration such as Python or Google Apps Script
  • Strong reporting experience in HubSpot or a comparable CRM
  • Hands-on experience measuring and reporting on SEO and organic performance with tools such as Google Search Console, SEMrush, or Ahrefs, and awareness of how AI-driven search (AIO and GEO) is reshaping discovery
  • Experience designing, measuring, and interpreting A/B tests
  • A proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insight and executive-ready reporting
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration, with the communication skills to work effectively across editorial, product, business, and marketing
  • An independent, accountable working style, able to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders and drive work to completion
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity
  • Authorization to work in the United States

Nice to Have
  • Experience in news, media, or subscription businesses, including audience metrics such as retention, churn, and conversion
  • Experience with A/B testing or experimentation platforms such as Optimizely or VWO
  • Additional BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Interest in policy, foreign affairs, or journalism

How Success Is Measured

Success in this role is measured by a single, trusted source of truth for company data, tracking that is accurate and complete, self-serve reporting that teams and leadership rely on to make decisions, weekly and monthly visibility into progress against KPIs, clear insight into how search and AI-driven discovery are affecting the business, and analysis that consistently drives action rather than simply describing results.
