What is a senior analytics engineer?

A Senior Analytics Engineer is a data professional who bridges the gap between data engineering and data analysis. They design, build, and maintain data pipelines, data models, and analytics infrastructure to ensure that data is reliable, accessible, and well-structured for analysis. Typically, they work with tools like SQL, dbt, and cloud data warehouses, collaborating closely with data analysts and business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights. Their role often involves optimizing data workflows, implementing best practices, and mentoring junior team members.

How does a senior analytics engineer typically collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders?

Senior Analytics Engineers play a vital role in bridging the gap between raw data and actionable insights. They work closely with data scientists to ensure that data pipelines and models are robust, scalable, and well-documented. Additionally, they frequently meet with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and translate them into technical requirements, ensuring that analytics solutions align with organizational goals. This collaborative approach helps maintain data quality and accelerates the delivery of meaningful analyses across teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior analytics engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Analytics Engineer, you need strong expertise in data modeling, SQL, data warehousing, and analytics, typically backed by a degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field. Proficiency with tools such as dbt, Python, cloud data platforms (like Snowflake or BigQuery), and experience with BI tools are commonly required, along with certifications in analytics or cloud technologies being a plus. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills help you translate business requirements into robust data solutions. These skills ensure data integrity, drive actionable insights, and support effective decision-making across the organization.

What is the difference between Senior Analytics Engineer vs Data Engineer?

Job description

Description

Team: RamseyTrusted

Please note that applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Location: Franklin, TN—on-site, relocation assistance available, flexible schedules available

A Little Bit About Us: You might know us from our founder and CEO, Dave Ramsey, who's given no-nonsense money advice on the radio since 1992. Three decades later, Ramsey Solutions is a household name in personal finance, with a mission to change the toxic money culture for good.

Our Mission: Ramsey Solutions provides biblically based, commonsense education and empowerment that give HOPE to everyone in every walk of life.

Here's a Taste of Our Benefits:

  • Health insurance (includes plans eligible for an HSA—with a company match up to $500!)
  • 401(k) retirement plan with 4% match/company contribution
  • Annual wellness, counseling and grocery membership reimbursement
  • On-campus cafe with subsidized pricing for breakfast, lunch and coffee bar
  • Dependent care FSA
  • Tons of cultural activities, like weekly devotional, leadership development courses, Battle of the Bands, and one epic Christmas party!

Where and How You'd Work:
Ramsey Solutions Headquarters is located just outside of Nashville in Franklin, Tennessee. We value our strong, unified company culture because we believe the best work is done together. That's why all of our team members work on-site under the same roof. But work-life balance is also important to us, so we offer flexible work schedules to take the stress out of appointments, family obligations and other needs that may pop up.

While every team member has a designated workspace (with an electronic sit-stand desk), our campus was designed to house a variety of unique work and play zones (e.g., quiet library space, coffee bar/lounge areas, recreational game zone, and outside/patio work and break areas).

What You'd Do in This Role:
At RamseyTrusted, the data behind every connection we make between people and the professionals who help with life's biggest financial decisions has to be something our teams can depend on without question. You'll own that trust: making sure the architecture underneath our data is solid, that engineering practices keep improving, and that analysts across the business can get to the data they need without a bottleneck. You'll partner closely with other engineers, mentoring them along the way, and with analysts directly, understanding how they use data so you can build tools that actually make their work easier. This is a chance to bring deep technical skill in Python, SQL, and modern data engineering to a role where the impact reaches every person we're able to serve well.

You're Probably a Match If:

  • You have 5+ years of experience building backend data solutions in Python and SQL.
  • You can turn raw data into a clear, compelling story, and you're just as comfortable presenting it to engineers as to non-technical teammates.
  • You've built strong end-to-end data solutions, including designing semantic layers that make data usable and reliable.
  • You take team objectives and translate them into production-ready data products, not just technical specs.
  • You're energized by helping other engineers grow, whether that's through pairing, code review, or everyday knowledge sharing.
  • You have hands-on experience with tools like dbt Core, AWS Redshift, or Streamlit.

What Winning Looks Like:

  • Designing and strengthening data pipelines, models, and integrations that improve accuracy, availability, and performance
  • Spotting technical debt, architectural gaps, and points of failure before they cause a problem, and driving fixes through to resolution
  • Establishing and improving standards for monitoring, alerting, logging, and recovery across data systems
  • Leading root-cause problem-solving after an incident so the same issue doesn't resurface
  • Building self-service tools and data products that make it easier for analysts to discover, access, and use data
  • Measuring adoption of the tools you build and improving them based on real feedback
  • Documenting data architecture and key technical decisions so the rest of the team can build on your work with confidence

Other Stuff to Know:
We're looking for people who are passionate about our mission. This isn't just a J-O-B. We experience resistance every day because what we believe is absolutely countercultural. We actually hate debt. We actually cut up our credit cards . . . like, for real. Some of us are still fighting our way out of debt, but we aren't going back. If you don't know much about Ramsey Solutions and our founder, Dave Ramsey, we encourage you to download the Ramsey Network mobile app and consume our content.

If Ramsey Solutions sounds like a workplace where you can get excited about Mondays, apply today. We can't wait to hear from you!
