Job Description

Addison Group is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable professional for a six-month contract opportunity with a growing organization in Costa Mesa, CA. This hybrid role is ideal for an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor, Senior Accountant, or Accounting Consultant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing day-to-day operations with process improvement initiatives and special projects.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical abilities, advanced Excel skills, and experience leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency and streamline accounting processes. This individual will work closely with accounting leadership while overseeing daily Accounts Payable operations and supporting key system implementation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Accounts Payable operations and provide guidance to AP staff.
  • Support accounting leadership with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities related to Accounts Payable and employee expenses.
  • Analyze Travel & Expense activity, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.
  • Create and maintain reports using advanced Excel functions, including large data analysis, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, and formulas.
  • Participate in an upcoming ERP system implementation and assist with testing, data validation, and process documentation.
  • Utilize expense management platforms to review, reconcile, and analyze employee expense activity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency through automation and AI-driven solutions using tools such as ChatGPT and Claude.
  • Collaborate with accounting, finance, and cross-functional business partners to support departmental objectives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive Accounts Payable or accounting experience.
  • Previous supervisory, lead, or project leadership experience within Accounts Payable is preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, lookup functions, formulas, and analysis of large datasets.
  • Experience utilizing AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude to improve productivity and business processes.
  • Experience with ERP systems; NetSuite experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with expense management platforms such as Concur or Navan is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
