Job description

Rust Belt Resources is recruiting a Senior Financial Accounting Analyst on behalf of our client, a leading regional energy supplier, to join their operational revenue accounting team in Salt Lake City.

This role sits at the intersection of accounting, data analytics, contract administration, and operational support. You will be key to validating complex transmission settlements, driving accurate customer billing, and supporting core financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Settlement Validation & Analysis: Audit transmission settlements and billing for completeness. Investigate discrepancies, trace transactions from raw data through final invoices, and perform variance/trend analysis.

  • Billing & Contract Administration: Prepare customer invoices, resolve billing disputes, and interpret transmission contracts and tariff provisions to ensure accurate financial execution.

  • Financial Accounting & Reporting: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and close documentation. Support SOX compliance, internal controls, and regulatory audit responses.

  • Process Improvement: Develop analytical models and automated solutions to streamline reporting and ensure high data integrity across systems.




Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience: 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, settlements, billing, or audit.

Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query). Proven track record of reconciling complex datasets and performing root-cause analysis.

Systems: Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau), SQL, or enterprise ERP systems (SAP) is strongly preferred.

Benefits
Salary: $75,200 – $105,000 (commensurate with experience)

Bonus: Eligible for up to a 12% annual performance bonus
