We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Evanston, Illinois. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a collaborative organization that values accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly financial close process, preparing financial reports, maintaining the general ledger, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, healthcare or long-term care accounting experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.

  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances.

  • Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.

  • Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records.

  • Collaborate with facility administrators and operational leaders to provide financial support.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.

  • Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Healthcare, skilled nursing, or long-term care accounting experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
