Job description

Manufacturing Accountant Augusta, Georgia, United States, Full-Time, On-Site
Manus works across industries and value chains to accelerate the transition to BioAlternatives better performing and more sustainable versions of complex molecules traditionally sourced from plants, animals, or fossil fuels. Our platform is proven to work across scales, bridging the Valley of Death between lab and manufacturing more efficiently and more reliably to deliver the benefits of biotechnology today.
Manus is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant who will be responsible for recording, analyzing, and reporting the company's financial activities while ensuring accurate accounting for production-related costs, inventory, and financial performance. You'll be part of a team that moves fast, thinks beyond conventional limits, and builds something that matters with the resources of an established operation and the energy of a company still defining what's possible.
We're looking for people who want their work to count, who thrive when given ownership, and who are excited to help write the next chapter of biomanufacturing.
Why work at Manus:
  • Opportunity For motivated, results-oriented team members, our growth creates opportunities for personal and professional advancement.
  • Accountability You are given the resources you need to succeed and the freedom to make it happen; in return, we hold each other accountable for our high expectations.
  • Passion We love what we do and enjoy working with others who feel the same way. We embrace the challenge and hard work that comes with working on the cutting edge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP across fixed assets, inventory, accruals, lease accounting, and investments.
  • Financial Data Management: Collect and monitor financial data, prepare internal statements (balance sheets and income statements), and support forecasting of cash, costs, and revenues.
  • Asset Management: Own the Construction in Progress (CIP) and Fixed Asset Tracking process, including recording newly acquired assets (tangible and intangible), tracking existing assets, maintain a roll forward and accounting for disposals. Partner with the engineering team to maintain a comprehensive asset inventory, and manage leases, right-of-use assets, and related liabilities.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze financial trends and prepare annual financial statements and accompanying notes.
  • Month-End Close and Intercompany Transactions: Manage assigned month-end close activities and process intercompany elimination entries to ensure an accurate and timely close.
  • Recommendations and Compliance: Develop and present recommendations to improve accounting practices and procedures, and keep management informed of the company's compliance standing.
  • Cost Management: Monitor expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities. Responsibilities include reconciling across multi-layer ledgers and maintaining General Ledger (GL) accounts, cost centers, functional areas, and profit centers.
  • External Audits: Prepare external audit work papers and memoranda, evaluate internal controls, policies, and procedures for effectiveness, and conduct detailed risk analyses to identify potential gaps.
  • Annual Tax and Fees Management: Contribute to managing annual tax filings, registration, fees, and dues to ensure timely submissions, accurate recordkeeping, and on-time payments.
  • Provide monthly purchase card management support to the Accounts Payable Accountant.
  • Advance the adoption of AI and automation tools to streamline accounting processes, accelerate financial close, and improve asset tracking.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other accounting-related duties as assigned, including monitoring and reporting on financial discrepancies.

Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of work experience performing U.S. GAAP accounting.
  • Strong understanding of Fixed Asset accounting, including Assets under Construction (AUC).
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or other relevant large language models (LLMs).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management, professional conduct, and adaptability to change.
  • Ability to interact effectively with co-workers, vendors, contractors, and other business contacts.
  • Compliance with Manus' core values for safe and efficient operation and maintaining sound relationships among employees.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including complex formulas, file optimization, and sophisticated data tables.
  • Proficiency in accounting software SAP Business by Design.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the vision and resourcefulness to work independently and lead. This role offers significant latitude to set your own approach and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:
