Job description

The Opportunity
Across the United States, Liquid Environmental Solutions (LES) handles millions of gallons of non-hazardous liquid waste, turning complex waste streams into reusable resources. As our Process Engineer, you will be the primary catalyst for transforming plant performance across our nationwide network of Treatment & Recovery facilities. You will work alongside Plant Managers and Operators to identify root cause of process and compliance issues and implementing effective corrective actions.
In this high-visibility role, your technical expertise directly dictates business outcomes: every process optimization you execute immediately reduces operational bottlenecks, boosts throughput, and drives revenue. By embedding operational consistency into our facilities, you will eliminate compliance risks before they occur - ensuring 100% permit adherence while maximizing facility profitability and plant efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Process Improvements - Operations
  • Lead and support process design, optimization, and troubleshooting for FOG, industrial separation systems, and related wastewater treatment units to strengthen operational consistency across sites.
  • Collect and analyze operational data (flows, temperatures, pressures, separation efficiency, etc.) to identify and drive process improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with commissioning and start-up activities at new or upgraded treatment sites.
  • Support T&R's Capital Plan, providing process evaluation and expertise to support developing project scope for the T&R facilities.

Process Improvements - Compliance
  • Monitor and assess treatment system performance for Permit Compliance; identify and implement process improvements that close compliance gaps, reduce risk, and capture cost savings.
  • Ensure process documentation is accurate and updated across sites to support compliance and audit readiness.
  • Collaborate with engineering, compliance, and EH&S teams to maintain operational integrity and safety.
  • While at operating sites, all activities should be performed in compliance with Company and site safety guidelines and in compliance with local, state and federal regulations at all times.
  • Compile and analyze various reports to support decision-making, management reporting, and compliance.

Hands-On Servant Leadership
  • Partner with, and work directly alongside, local operations teams in the field to build operator capability and ensure consistent adherence to process standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct process audits, implement best practices, and recommend equipment or process upgrades - leading hands-on with plant operators rather than directing from a distance.
  • Provide summary reports with process evaluation and recommendations to Treatment and Recovery Management and Site Management.
  • Deliver excellent customer service at all levels.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, vendors, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Coordinate with other Liquid Environmental Solutions departments.

General
  • Complete all documents and reports as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering, Wastewater Engineering, or closely related Engineering discipline required.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of direct, hands-on process engineering experience inside industrial wastewater, chemical processing, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial fluid handling environments.
  • Logistics: Reside within one hour of a major airport with willingness and ability to travel up to 50% nationwide to Treatment & Recovery facilities.
  • Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without requiring current or future employment visa sponsorship.
  • Safety-focused with excellent interpersonal, analytical and leadership skills to effectively collaborate with others at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working familiarity with industrial wastewater discharge permits, POTW pretreatment standards, and environmental compliance frameworks.
  • Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT)
  • Experience with multi-site or regional engineering roles
  • Engineering Management experience a plus
