Job description

The Process Engineer (Thin Films) supports and develops thin film and other module steps for the fab and will work with other engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure robust manufacturing processes are established and maintained. This position will request process engineering support for mass production fab including process problem-solving, yield improvement, process monitoring, cost reduction as well as support R&D activities and new process development. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting and developing Thin Films deposition processes in the 200mm fab
  • Optimizing and developing new processes and process controls for lower cost, higher productivity and enabling new products
  • Implementing and refining SPC controls to reduce process variation without personnel intervention
  • Performing statistically designed experiments, analyzing, writing report, qualifying process changes
  • Disposition of discrepant material, troubleshoot process drift or human error, diagnose and implement preventative actions in a cost effective manner
  • Maintain documentation necessary for proper operation of the equipment
  • Writing specs of processes and operations, qualification plans, weekly updates, documentation of scrap and rework
  • Improving the performance of the area using Lean manufacturing techniques

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BS, Master or Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, or other related discipline
  • 5+ years in Thin Films experience required (experience in Diffusion helpful)
  • Experience in CVD and or PECVD
  • Experience with defect reduction

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong background in statistics
  • Must have CVD/PVD process experience
  • Must have skills and ability to apply SPC to controlling processes
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people one on one and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated problem solving initiative in work area
