Applications Engineer - Principal

Description:

A Principal Applications Engineer is a critical team member responsible for the support of a diverse portfolio of TIA and Driver semiconductor devices targeting high speed applications (operating from 10 - 1000 Gbps).ย  The Principal Applications Engineer's primary role is to evaluate the devices designed by our world class team and engage with customers to integrate these devices into their systems.ย  Duties would include RF testing of devices using a PNA (high frequency test equipment), designing custom high-performance hardware, producing application notes and data sheets, and providing direct technical support to our customers.ย  To accomplish these tasks, the Principal Applications Engineer will interact closely with Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Field Applications Engineering (domestic and international), Marketing, and other teams to analyze and resolve technical issues at every point of product development process.ย  You will work with local and offshore applications and sales teams with a strong focus on maximizing revenue and capturing design slots.ย  A strong RF and Microwave test background and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with multiple engineering, marketing, and sales groups at different geographical locations worldwide are essential to the success of this position. ย ย This individual should be a self-starter and be able to independently (or manage team resources) to solve customer's technical problems.

Specific Responsibilities:ย 

  • 40 - 110 GHz Probe testing using a PNA
  • Design and Build supporting hardware for MACOM products using RF, Microwave, High Speed Electrical, Signal Integrity, skills such as evaluation systems, reference designs, applications boards.
  • Generate Application Notes, Data sheets, other supporting documents
  • Creative, Strong, Mature team player who knows how to leverage all the different expertise in the team to resolve technical problems
